no actually, I'm really beyond the pale, I live in Kildare, which is a couple of miles beyond the border of The Pale. No, seriously, it is! The Pale was an old boundary line around the city of Dublin, beyond which people usually drew dragons on the map, and savages, eating potatoes, and their children. Hence something being beyond the Pale, meaning well out of order, which the bulk of rural Ireland is. |
