Dang virus! I dont know where I got it, and its currently ruining my system. it shows pop ups of different virus protection sites which offers to clean your computer for free. Turns out its just another ad. I did a system scan using Norton Anti Virus and Microsoft anti spyware and detected the said virus. The summary indicated that it was removed, but when I did a rescan, its still there.
Im going nuts! What should I do?
PS: If this isnt fixed.. I'll be out for a while here in the Archives...Cry

Don't know about this particular nastie, but you could try posting on www.cexx.org as the guys there are very helpful. A couple of years ago I had several spyware attacks and that site was very helpful indeed. They have several experts in the forums who can advise you what to do. Often they tell you to run the 'HijackThis' utility and post the resulting log file in the fourm and they will advise you what to delete using that utility.

I was also gonna say: run Hijackthis, and find a computer whiz to read the log for you. I've done it about a year ago, and that worked like a charm. Good luck!

Try doing a search on 'Spyware Quake removal' and see if the symptoms match what you have. If it does, the removal is well documented

[edit] if it is Zlob, (symantec seems to be the only one that calls it this), you can try just changing to Firefox and your problem will be nullified (but not gone). Like most trojans it just exploits Internet Explorer's readiness to allow other programs to integrate into it.

Download Spybot S&D (here: http://www.safer-networking.org/en/index.html - http://www.safer-networking.org/en/index.html ) it should get rid of this-it worked on my daughter's PC.
