Which of this two bands you enjoy more. I think it makes sense comparing them because they're both prog related bands with strong hard rock passages.
I like them both but i think i enjoy more Led Zeppelin, maybe because i find them a more diverse band and a bit more emotional.

Well, if Aerosmith were in here I'd definitely choose them; why'd you leave them out?
I mean uh, yeah I prefer Deep Purple over Led Zep, probably because I strong dislike Zep's selling-out and demoralization. I also hear they were arrogant pricks on tours.

I didn't put aerosmith because i don't like them as much as this two bands. I put this two because they're my favourite hard rock bands, along with Rush, but i think it's unfare if i put Rush as a choice because this is a progressive site so they would obviously win.

The best song between is them is from Zep, but all in all Deep Purple
has far more interesting songs. Led Zeppelin somehow does not appeal to
me.

I think Zeppelin were very wise to not reform with another drummer. By quitting while they were on top they secured their legacy.
In some ways I wish Purple had stopped after releasing Perfect Strangers. Like Neil Young says It´s better to burn out than to rust.

I think they broke up at the right itme. I'd rather see a band break up while they are still good than slowly break down like some have.
I voted for Zeppelin, just because I think they are more interesting as a band. Bonham the vituoso drummer, page the virtuoso guitar player with occult interests and an excellent riff-writer, Plants vocals are unique, his lyrics thought provoking, and Jones was awesome on organ and bass. Excellent band in every way.

The book "Stairway To Heaven" by their tour manager Richard Cole reveals that they really started to act this way once they started to see success...
And I'd have to say Led Zep because I haven't heard a whole lot of Deep Purple, Pbut I've liked what I've heard so far).
I especially love "No Quarter" and "Achilles Last Stand"!

My head hurts trying to make a choice!
I will go with LZ only because I think they have had a more lasting influence on the world of rock music.
I listen to more LZ ... but I think I appreciate the music more when I crank up a bit of (pre-Burn) Purple. I'm a big fan of "Made In Japan".

Purple was amazingly good at their peak 1970-1972 but then, they lost "it".

Led Zeppelin without a doubt! They've been the most innovative rock band of their genre at the time... and you can actually hear they played with pleasure.
Deep Purple is also a great band but missed that special magic that Zep was adding with each surprising change of direction with every new album they'd released. I still don't get it why DP is in the Prog Archives and Zep is not

Deep Purple, even though I won all of Zeps and albums and most DP's 60s-70s output, Ian Gillan's voice is simply better than robert plant and has more emotion to it. Plant seems detached from the music and when he is emtional it becomes maudlin and uinspired

Led Zeppelin, of course.
By the way, how come they're not classified as prog related by this
site? When I read the description of the Prog Related category, I
wonder why Zep is nowhere near to be found in the list of prog related
artists. Their catalogue even encompasses a handful of songs which
could easily be classified as folk prog or art rock, not just prog
related.
Led Zeppelin didn't consider themselves a hard rock or heavy metal (yes, some call them that )
band. They saw themselves as unique, and as I listen through their
albums, I'm bound to agree. There's no way Zep was too mainstream to be
included on this site in the prog related category. Either they need to
be inducted immediately, or the description of the prog related
category must be re-written.
Have a listen to them and think about. You will find it makes sense.

This is a joke ... Deep Purple is without a doubt a great rockin' band
but Led Zeppelin are the masters of classic-rock. I don't think anyone
rocks as well as Led Zeppelin and their compositional skills and
virtuosism rivals the best prog bands (Yes, Genesis, Pink Floyd)

Zep by a country mile, since they were generally interesting. Purple
got boring as soon as they dropped the Psych aspects of their sound and
just became a chuggin' Blues band who happened to have some talent as
players and performers.

Liked the early proggy Purps and the later boogie era, but the band's post-'74 stuff is by the numbers hard rock.

Led Zeppelin is more enjoyable to me, I can genuinely endure listening to over 2 hours of Zeppelin. I also prefer some of their concepts. Not to say Deep Purple aren't good, In Rock, Machine Head and Burn are all great albums.

I love both bands, I grew up on their albums, providing much inspiration. I also sang LZ songs in a cover band when I was younger.
To decide between the two is difficult, if one must have in the first place. I will not vote on it, but it's fair to say that LZ wasn't a very tight outfit when performing live. Some tunes have just disintegrated, fallen apart in the process, leaving me preferring their studio releases, which is rarely my choice in music.
They do belong in the Archives, though.

I have almost every Deep Purple albums and only 5 Led Zeppelin albums. Led Zeppelin's first album is great to me but the following albums are o.k. but they were overplayed on the radio where I grew up. I got tired of them really fast. I like the Yardbirds better than Led Zeppelin anyway. I thought Dread Zeppelin were more prog than Led Zeppelin. I voted for Deep Purple. Why both bands are included in PA amazes me. If you include these two bands you might as well have KIss, Motley Crue, Poison....etc. All their solos were improvised.
