Apologies if this is in the wrong place - or has already been covered, though I did do a search - but how come we have reviews of 10,000 Days cropping up when the album isn't officially released until 1st or 2nd May, depending on where you live? If you folk have a legit promo copy then of course that's valid but hopefully no-one is mean enough to effectively steal off the band they purport to love by illegal copying or downloading.

But even if these copies being reviewed are legit, exactly how many listens did you give it before posting a review - or am I being unfair in thinking some folk just couldn't wait to be the first to spill their load?Wink

Actually the album will be released tomorrow in Germany ... tonight I'll see if my favorite store is already selling it (that's not uncommon).

Expect an immediate first listen review on my website, and an in-depth review in a few weeks!

^ Now a quick review followed by a more considered one at a later date...fair enough! I understand it will be in the shops in the UK on Monday.

Only one reviewer per album for each reviewer Phil. If we spot anyone submitting more than one review for an album, that will be considered a breach of the rules.

As far as Progarchives is concerned, it is not for us to police how people came by their copies of an album, or to say how long they should have it before submitting a review. The guidelines do suggest though that you cannot make a considered judgement of a prog album after one or two listens over a short period.

Yes, I wanted the first review.  By the time I had posted that review I had given the album five or six good listens, which is definitely more than most professional critics give them.  Most likely people who don't like an album only give it one listen before posting a review.

The album is out in both Germany and Australia now.

Yes, I did illegally download the album.  I will also be paying for a legitimate copy.  I don't see a moral wrong there, although I'm sure others have different morals.

Just remember not to rush through your review just to get the First Review distinction. While it is nice, trotting out a sub par review after 1 or 2 listens shouldn't be what reviewing is about.

Not one single review I have seen of 10,000 Days has done a song by song breakdown of the album, they all just babble away about how great the album is without really telling us WHY it is so great.
