In regard to the new Tool album...

There has been a great deal of hype over this record, and it has been evident on this forum over the past couple of days that the its arrival is big news.  Threads have been shut down because of people posting leaks, and speculating about the contents of the album, and even a couple uninformed reviews have popped up on the front page.

So, that said, I would like to express my hope that given this album's obvious popularity, people will take their time and carefully consider the music before they post a review or a thread about it.  I really don't want it to ruin the mood of everyone on the site the way Octavarium seemed to last summer, when all of a sudden it seemed that every thread and every review was DT related, and the forum was divided bitterly between haters and fanboys.

I would like to see thoughtful, informed reviews, that say more than "greatest album ever" or "huge disappointment".  I also hope that people wait until the album is actually out (and hopefully leave time for the album to sink in) before posting any more reviews.  I wont lie, I have the leak , but I won't review it until I have listened to the actual CD which I will buy on May 2nd.

Thanks guys, and enjoy the music.

Well said Goldenspiral, it needs people to sit down, listen and think a bit rather than shooting from the hip!

Wow, just when I thought not many more reasonable voices are left, you came and said this and also got support from the above posters, who I appreciate too for their response.

Sadly, I think this is the way it will happen anyway, but thanks everyone who agrees with me!

Anyone who is prepared to level accusations of "SELLOUT!" should probably drag out their copy of Aenima and give "Hooker With a Penis" another listen.
