With the rapid expansion of the number of bands and albums included on the site, there are many albums which have not yet been reviewed. This page http://www.progarchives.com/UnreviewedAlbums.asp - http://www.progarchives.com/UnreviewedAlbums.asp contains a full list of all such albums. Those who review these albums first will of course ensure that their reviews always appear at or near the top of the reviews for that album. The first review also receives the notation "First review of this album" on the home page. Instead of being the 300th+ person to review "Close to the edge", why not see which of the albums on the list you can help out with?!

You should be more confident. I also spent more than a year on this site, not rating or reviewing anything, but when I saw I could post one review after another, I made a decision to keep the work. It is good that I found this thread, because I have an issue. Very good! I have a question of this — First review of this album — considering the list of unreviewed albums: it naturally SHOULD come when there is no written reviews but some ratings, right? (and such albums should be on that list too)? For example FAMILY's Anyway wasn't on the list; it has ratings without reviews only. (Then again, ANTHONY PHILLIPS' Harvest of The Heart was on the list, with one RTR.) Both are albums I might review in the near future. |

I'll try to focus my review writing on albums by the likes of Von
Deyen, The Residents, Snakefinger, and some of the more obscure
artists. Great to have a list like this .

I think there's a problem because the review names shown are now the forum names and not the names that were originally given with the reviews. Hugues, Rest assured, none have been lost, they will still be on the database. The issue is probably that they are not being shown on the album page. Have you checked your list of reviews on your collaborator page to see if it's still there? |

Well that's encouraging news for all of us. Hughes, have you ever thought of giving up the day job and going into professional reviewing? I noticed that at Amazon you can review the reviews! It says things like 3 out of 5 people found this review helpful. Joe Bloggs - 5 stars - a masterpiece of a reviewer. Bob, the reviewer names are now taken from the forum. This is part of the move to requiring reviewers to log in using their forum ID before posting reviews. The forum IDs have been identified by linking the e-mail addresses given by reviewers with those in their forum IDs. The forum name is now shown as the reviewer, with the "real name" from the forum settings added in brackets. You can of course make your "real name" in the forum details anything you wish it to be. |

Ivan, Under the new system, the reviewer name is no longer recorded in the database, just the e-mail address. The reviewer name shown for reviews is picked up virtually from the forum profile "real name". The effect of this is that queries such as http://www.progarchives.com/?reviewer=ivansfr0st - http://www.progarchives.com/?reviewer=ivansfr0st will only work for reviews submitted before the changes were implemented. mailto:M@X - M@X is looking at a replacement facility which will allow reviewers to see all their reviews, but that is presently work in progress. Hope that explanation is clear, but let me know if it needs to be clarified further.

Hugues, I have checked all your reviews, and there is no review for "Anyway". There are reviews for the first three Family albums only. This is not therefore one of the "missing" ones, as there is no rating only for this one from you either. |

Thanks for your encouragement. I thikn I'll practice offline for a while and write some, and when I feel they are good I'll upload them here. For the time being, I'll continue my low-level review/recommendations in my thread "I Recommend..." - It allows me to practice a little bit, before the real thing. THe problem is that I am a (bit) of a perfectionist. And I have these certain standards of reviews I want to achieve, and if I don't feel I did that, I can feel comfortable with sharing it - you know, mentality problems. Two commentaries: While I read this list, I discovered that: The "Moment of Truth" album recorded by ELO part II is listed twice, one as part of ELO`s discography (with Jeff Lynne, which it wasn`t recorded with him), http://www.progarchives.com/Progressive_rock_discography_CD. asp?cd_id=10552 as released in 1994. In the scan of the cover, one can read that it says "ELO part II". The same album is correctly listed as part of "ELO part II, post- ELO") as released in 1995. I think that the corect release date was 1994. Both have the same scan of the cover. I can`t write a review for this album because I don`t have it. The Alan Parsons`album "The Very Best of Live" is listed twice in the Progarchives Discography, which is correct, because there were two releases of this album: the European (with only live tracks, released in 1994) and the U.S. version (released in 1995 with the same live tracks but in different order, plus 3 new songs: "When", "Take the Money and Run" and "You`re the Voice"). The problem with this album is that the titles are in the wrong order: the U.S. version is classified as the "Europa Version" and the "Europa Version" is classified as the U.S. version. I wrote a long time ago a review for the U.S. version classified in Progarchives as the "Europa version". I forgot then to write to Progarchives`Aministrators about these mistakes!

Part of the problem is that some bands have only two or three (if not less) Prog albums and 10 non related, so people usually won't rate them in a Prog place. Maybe addition of determined albums related to Prog should be allowed. Iván -------------

I have been going over the list, and have written reviews for ELO's "Greatest Hits," and Mercury Rev's "Boces." Mercury Rev's "Deserter's Songs" was also listed. When I checked it out, the album is listed twice. One entry has reviews, the other doesn't.

you have probably got me wrong Assaf.I mean when X proposes a band,posts 2345345 times a day "where the hell are they?I want them here!" doing nothing by himself for adding and then - on adding the artist/band - makes no reviews or at least thanks for those who add them. Personally I reviewed ALL bands I proposed for submitting and plan even more(just look at my list above) |

Well, I thought you were among others referring to me since in your list there is at least on eband I added (and suggested as well and did all the work of addition as I do with all the bands I added so far and will add in the future) - Dreams Of Sanity. I do not write many reviews. I need some inspiration to do so or have a strong urge to do so (as I did with say, Otolithen, Kombinat M, Nil, and others of the few I have reviewed). I do not write reviews very well and it takes a lot of effort for me to write one. Considering little free-time I have in the daily life after work and other issues in my private life, and then the other work I have here in PA in the several teams I am part of, then it leaves e little time for writing reviews and not much inspiration to do so. So I will continue to add bands and probably not write reviews (Anamorphose is one of my next proects in the French front). That "Close To The Edge" is an attractive and mattering album is reality. Unfortunately the people should understand that to do 300th+ review on a specific album means open, in truth, a thread!!! I, for example, introduce the album and immediately after (generally after an attentive listening) I review them. That then my albums (those cher I introduce) be often dark compilations that interesting only me don't is a problem. I have, however, introduce also the compilation "TARZAN". I did not review it because i don't have this. Or better I have the albums of Osage Tribe and Capsicum Red. But not the other. So I introduced it for the importance that it has for the collectors. I believe that all they should introduce CD and then to review them (and when I say all I say all!!!) to do true promotion to the Prog. Otherwise the reviews lose value. -------------

I just have these albums,time to listen to them(now listening to MARILLION's Berlin though) and inspiration to make a review(despite the fact that not every album form the list is inspirable). Gimme some time and I'll be ready!!!
