Hi jfalcont: Maybe you don't know, but lending, copying or even trading copyrighted material is an illegal activity in some states, specially if they do it with CDR's.

I don't think the adms have seen your post, otherwise they would have answered it as I'm doing becausse I know they woudn't admit it,.

TRADING original CD's for others is not illegal. COPYING and trading the COPIES is. I don't understand what the problem is, here. And since when has borrowing/lending become illegal? Everybody would be in confinement, and we'd be posting from our respective cells!

My wife has a few Mariah Carey CD's I'd like to trade.

 2 for 1, any takers?

It's a stupid regulation Drop Forge, I admit that, but if you read the copyright message in CD's and especially in DVD's it clearly mentions that lending and trading copyrighted material or even showing it in public or private reunions is illegal.

The problem is that the guys from the RIAA are chasing web pages that promote lending or trading CD's just to make an example.

They want to destroy any forum that comments music, their wish is to sell all their albums to ignorants that don't have any previous information so if the albium is bad you bought it anyway.

Stop for a second. Those particular discs will make attractive coasters to set down steins of foaming beer, and they may even be dishwashable. Or have you considered them as alternatives for clay pigeon 'clays'. Glued aluminium surface outwards you can build up  a glittery mobile, which will look well in any home. Heat them in a hot oven and pressed down on an old  hub cap, think of the effect they will have fixed to the hubs of your police car. And what a great addition to one appearance, strung with cotton thread and hung from the ears, at the next 70's revival disco.

Hahaha

Actually, I have used them for reflectors at my old house in the country. Backing up in the pitch black darkness, Mariah's Christmas CD was the only thing keeping guest from driving off a cliff.

Mariah just got an endorsement deal to promote perfume. Is trading perfume legal? If any of the many Mariah fans who participate in this forum has a vinyl copy of Dance of the Flames FOR SALE I would be interested in a copy that`s in reasonably good condition. PM me if you have one.

Probably not. Having read this thread I'm beginning to wonder if record stores are illegal as well. Apparently CDs should be given to customers for free, as a present.

or directly from the artist, so for now on the only lucrative benefict of making music is that you don't have to buy presents when you need one

Are you saying that once I have purchased a CD that I can not turn around and sell that CD ro even trade it away?  I buy and sell CD's all the time on Ebay or at local CD stores.  Are those stores or sites illegal as well?

To Ivan_Melgar_M.

I'm not sure how copyright laws are interpreted in Peru but in the US there is nothing that states "trading" to be an illegal activity.
