What songs do you know are both proggy and catchy? I.e. it has (a lot of) mainstream appeal but is not generic. The first I can think of is Hocus Pocus by Focus. I wouldn't really say Hocus Pocus as it just has a memorable guitar hook. Turn it on Again, Misunderstanding from Duke (Genesis), both excellent. You know what's very catchy? The Endless Enigma! ------------- My computer's broke |

"Forever Is A Long Time" by the German band AMENOPHIS (from their
second album, "You And I") is irresistibly catchy - with the right promotion, they could even have got a hit single with it. "Esprit D'Amor" by MINIMUM VITAL is both extremely catchy and very danceable (quite unusual for prog) but perhaps a little too odd ever to have got much airplay. |

Of course there are numerous pop songs by bands categorized as prog groups, but that's not what were's looking for, is it?
I'd say more or less the whole Signals album by Rush is catchy and proggy at the same time. Rush mixed pop and prog elements often very nicely during the 80's, in my opinion. Marillion has done the same occasionally too and sometimes Genesis as well. ------------- "Make tea, not love" |

This thread should have been catchy Prog tunes NOT played on the radio because essentially everyone knows that songs like Roundabout, Misunderstanding and Money are catchy, otherwise they wouldn't be on the radio. Painted Man by Arena will be my choice. |
