Unfortunately I missed VDGG last summer in Paris. So I was quite happy to see a  Broadcast of the VDGG concert, given saturday 05/11/05 during the 'Leverkusener Jazz Tage', in the German TV programm 'Rockpalast'. The concert Broadcast was a 60 minute programm with excerpts from the concert and two short snippets of an interview, that Peter Hammill gave after the show. Track List: -Darkness/ Sleepwalkers/ Every Bloody Emperor/ Man Erg/ Killer/ Lemmings.

Judging from the excerpts it seemed to be a fantastic concert, apparently with a majority of older tracks. The  interplay of the four was great, and  all of them never played better IMO. The only one who looked a little tired in the close-ups was David Jackson, but then playing Alto and Tenor sax together must be tiring anyway. Peter Hammill played guitar only on 'lemmings', amid the chosen tracks and on the others a Yamaha DX7,with an  e-piano sound. Hugh Banton played a Hammond B-3 and a Roland Keyboard, set to an organ setting. The overall sound was 'very classic', no newer keyboard textures and that's fine for me! My favourite tracks were 'Sleepwalkers' and 'Man Erg'. I hope only that VDGG does another European tour this year.
