Bill Fay Group : Tomorrow and Tomorrow

Yesterday after work I went to a musical library and I was really tired . So I took a magazine and dozed away in a chair. In the beginning there was a Hendrix record playing and then the librairian put on a new record. It was a very quite record and I listened only with half an ear, but I got more and more interested. It was obviously a songwriter and  the record reminded me of Nick Drake and John Cale with a strange arrangement. So after half an hour I got up and asked the libriarian and he showed me the CD,  'Bill Fay Group : Tomorrow and Tomorrow'. These are recordings from 1978 to 1981 and they are beautiful. Bill Fay sings and plays keyboards together with a standard rock group : drums, guitar and  bass but they have a really strange sound, very athmospheric, a mixture of Nick Drake and Tortoise. It sounds very modern and timeless in the same time.

I've got two friends who are really into Bill Fay. One of them is a big Nick Drake fan as well. I still must check him out. My friends and you make me curious.

Well, that certainly is a recommendation! From what I heard from him until now (my friends let me hear a few songs) he sounds very original. I'm getting curiouser and curiouser  .
