I love Queen, is and incredible band and with the decades pull off an
unique and refreshing sound never heard before. In the 70 (their best
moment) released albums such as "Queen II" or "A day at the races" (my
favorite), in the 80 the works were a little down ("Hot Space"), the 90
concluded with one of my also favorite records "Innuendo", and "Made in
heaven"
After saying all this, I realized that this band have a few prog
moments in song like "Innuendo" or "Bohemain Rhapsody" that allowed to
be in the PA, but a band like this make you think that`s there`s a
bunch of bands with the same elements or more that should be in this
place.
Anyway I would like to know which others song beside "Innuendo" and "Rhapsody" have a progy stile in this amazing bands

most obviously My Fairy King and Jesus on Queen
White Queen (As It Began), Ogre Battle and March Of The Black Queen on Queen II
and The Prophet's Song on A Night At The Opera
that's aside from Innuendo and Bohemian Rhapsody (which is of course
the most successful prog-rcok song of all time in terms of weeks atop
the British charts) ...

I think you are right, but as you know I all stay in the "Queen",
"Queen II", "A night at the opera" & "A day at the races". In the
80 the best moment of Queen was "Under Pressure" with Bowie, not prog
but a cool song.
I don`t know you, but I simply HATE "We are the champions"!!!!

Mine is a different case from most ... in the mid 80s I was into synth
pop and then the B-sides of Queen's singles Friends Will Be Friends and
Who Wants to Live Forever were old hits Seven Seas Of Rhye and Killer
Queen ... I realised they were better songs and went and checked out
early Queen .. it was so good that I gave away my collection (but only
to my sister) ... and for two years I listened to only Queen ...
I came to love almost everything except that awful song Body Language and half of the Flash Gordon album!

THEY WERE GLAM ROCK! SOME SONGS HAS LITTLE PROG TOUCHES BUT I CAN'T DEFINE THEM AS A PROGRESSIVE ROCK BAND EVEN IF I LIKE THEIR MUSIC .

jajaj "Body Language" sucks, and the flash album and the movie too
I also think that the live album never show this side of Queen, it`s always the same tracklist, I hate that
Always shows: Kind of magic, friend, break free, radio, etc....

Quite a lot of Queen, just about all of Queen II, much of Sheer heart Attack, some of DATR, almost all of ANATO, some of NOTW, some of Jazz...
To say they were a Glam Rock band is to completely belittle what they did and not recognise their incredible achievements - ostrich, you might say.
And may I remind some, that this thread isn't about whether you like them or not - it's about listing 5 prog songs.
Sheesh!

I don`t think they we`re a glam rock band, his stle and commercial repercusion don`t fit in that category.
What it`s true is that Mercury alone was an example of glam rock , but Queen as a band I don`t think so.
Roxy Music is a true example of glam rock and have a place in this site

Well, considering that making you happy is the ultimate goal of my pale existence, here goes:
1. Prophet Song
2. March of the Black Queen
3. Father and Son
4. Bohemian Rhapsody
5. White Queen
------------- I can understand your anger at me, but what did the horse I rode in on ever do to you?

White Queen is also one of my fav song
Another thing I want to add is that Mercury solo career suchs ("Living on my own" is a joke)
The only good album is the one with Monserrat Caballe "Barcelona".
That makes me think that May was the proggy head in the band (the solo albums are quite good)
Deacon is more and not-member of Queen than a member, but he write "Anorher one bites the dust", a good track
Finally, Taylor has great vocals and make good composition "I love with my car" cool one, but their solo records .
I think that the "Queen" and "Queen II" are the most complex and prog
album of Queen, the rest are moments in their large discography

Queen is not defined by the Archives as prog rock. They are defined as PROG-RELATED. There is a big difference. The Archives define prog-related as "rock and pop bands and artists... who were not truly 'prog'... but who were clearly not 'mainstream' or simply 'rock' bands." I think Queen fits that description quite well.
Face it: Queen is in the Archives. Queen is in the prog-related section of the Archives. Queen will remain in the prog-related section of the Archives. There isn't much you can do about it, so maybe it's about time you stopped being so pedantic, moved on with your life, and found something more important to care about.

You get me wrong, for me is an honour that Queen is in the archives, my
thread is about knowing the few proggy moments of the band, I love
Queen and I think that prog-related is a big genre where you can
put a lot of great main-stream bands such as Electric Light Orchestra
or Foreigner or Toto.

Humm, I love Queen, such a great band live..
would go with:
1. The prophets song
2. Brighton rock (on 'Live killers')
3. Was it all worth it
4. Liar
5. White queen

I love all of Queen II and A Night at the Opera. I heard Liar on t.v. a while ago and it kicks so much ass. But nothing Queen has done will make them a pure prog band.

Yes, it is true Queen were glam rock. Glam wasn't really a actual muscial style, It was a way that bands presented themselves. A band can play prog but still be glam, like Roxy music and Queen.

Progressive Rock = Art Rock.
"The Prophets Song" is pure Progressive Rock - I don't see how you can say otherwise. It's not grey - it's technicolour prog!!

^ Agreed. But there is one Queen song that I would not call prog but most other people would: Bohemian Rhapsody. Sure it features many prog trademarks, but IMO it's too pompous and "glam" ...

Exactly so - in many ways, more prog than prog itself...
