Hi all...I have burned a few cds here and there...it seems random that some end up with noise, almost a static sound that builds as the volume builds...anyone else have this problem, know what it is and how to prevent it?

It sounds like you are clipping the signal- more information please

  • which application are you using- is it just an app that is making an audio copy of a cd or MP3, such as Nero or Roxio
  • or are you using something else that allows you to enhance the signal.

Your burning programme may be corrupted or your drive is coming to the end of its lifespan.

Download a free burning program (try a demo of Nero 7- http://www.nero.com/nero7/eng/nero7-demo.php - http://www.nero.com/nero7/eng/nero7-demo.php )

If the new burning application works no problem then you original programme is corrupted or needs updating.

If the problem persists your drive needs replacing.
