Hello. My name is Matt and I am 14. I am new to this forum and my favorite band is Dream Theater. I love Progressive Metal, but I do not know which Cds to get. Ive got all the DTs, Ayreon - Human Equation (Which i didnt like, and didnt even consider that metal) I also have Operation Mindcrime whoch was ok. I like concept albums a WHOLE lot, and I like really epic metal. If some people could give me a list of about 10 or something Cds that are good that would be great!

Thanks!

Before continuing elsewhere:

Yes: Close To The Edge

If you really dont get it just continue with:

Opeth - Ghost Reveries and/or Deliverance

Pagan's Mind - Celestial Entrance

OSI - OSI

Symphony X - The Odyssey

Poverty's No Crime - The Chemical Chaos

Devin Townsend - Terria

Pain of Salvation - Remedey Lane

You'll have to guess the title of that first album, since the board doesn't want me to say it

epic metal?  Try Kamelot the Black Halo and Karma, and Rhapsody.  Those bands are pretty much the epitome of epic metal if you ask me.

  • Kamelot - Epica
  • Rhapsody - Dawn Of Victory
  • Nightwish - Century Child
  • Angra - Temple Of Shadows
  • Symphony X - V: The New Mythology Suite

If you like epic metal try
"Rhapsody-Dawn of Victory"

I would highly recommend
   "SYMPHONY X - V"
It's a concept epic progressive metal cd

other cds:

"Superior-Ultima Ratio" (concept album)-like Operation: Mindcrime with some more influences of Dream Theater

"Vauxdvihl-To Dimension Logic"
"Payne's Gray-Kadath Decoded"

both are incredible concept cds but very very hard to get but TRY IT!

"Clockwork-Surface Tension"

"Ice Age-The Great Divide"

"Andromeda-II=I

"Pain of Salvation-Remedy Lane" (listen to it really often!)

"Yes-Close to the Edge"

All Opeth and Symphony X-Divine Wings of Tragedy. That has great gothic/epic feel, due in part to Allen's incredible vocals.

I'll see you on the Darkside of the moon...
