I've been out of touch for a while. Can I hear some recommendations for
the top prog releases from the past few years? Specifically from some of
the lesser known bands.

Thanks

why don't you listen to the most psychedeliest band of all times:

-ACID MOTHERS TEMPLE (everything)*
           or:
-THE BOREDOMS: Seadrum/House of Sun*
           or:
-THE MARS VOLTA: Frances The Mute

*it isnt really prog..but still awesome albums!

If it's traditional prog your after with lucsious harmonies and skillfull musicianship the following are must have's!

Spocks Beard - V and Snow

The Flowerkings - Stardust We Are and Space Revolver

Arena- Immortal & The Visitor.

Thanks for responding, everyone. I have, and love, all the Flower Kings
stuff, love Mars Volta, like Porcupine Tree, am "ok" with Arena.

I will check out the stuff recommended by Erik. That's what I've been
looking for. Any other recos along these lines would be great. btw, Nexus
is a great band.

If You like something more heavy bu melodic try Shadow Gallery - Room V...

Or Ayreon - The Human Eqation

Or Evergrey - In Search for Truth

Or Dream Theater - Scenes from a Memory

Also get the awesome Damnation by Opeth (not heavy)
