And the second from me today (and two yesterday. Overkill? Hell yeah! But i enjoy these kinds of things -- sharing my faves, exploring my interests, seeing what others like... I may not be taking much time with putting these together as can be common during my down-time, but others can take their time with responding to the topics. Happy to do 2011 and excited to get to 2010, which is a great year for Sufjan Stevens. This poll comes in three sections and an "other" (see details on when to use), and multiple voting is not enabled. The first eight are taken from the unfiltered, except by year, Prog Archives Top Album Chart for 2011. The second eight is taken from the top twelve listed albums of the 2011 Collab Album of the Year topic -- there were four duplicated with the top eight PA chart listings, so I did not duplicate those in the poll. The third eight is from my top nine Awesome Prog for 2011 list. One of my actual top eight was already listed for the poll in the collab top albums. It's an indication of interests/ what I am most into right now. M number one was a no-brainer. "Other" as a voting option is intended to use if you don't like any of the listed options. That said, I would ask people to mention their favourites on and off the list. If, for instance, your favourite on the list is Haken's Visions, but your actual favourite is Lou Reed & Metallica's Lulu, then I request voting for and mentioning Haken's album in a post while also mentioning Lulu as being your actual favourite album of 2011. So I would like to hear about what people like both on AND off the list if applicable and, to reiterate, for the "other" voting poll option only to be used if nothing is liked that is already listed. Mention as many of your favourites as you like, both and off the list. And feel free to mention what you don't like that is listed too, and then preferably why it does not appeal. | I A Moon also for me. Very good year! William D. Drake, Kate Bush, Ske, Oneohtrix Point Never, Opeth all great. Not listed: Hardcore Will Never Die But You Will is probably my favourite Mogwai album. Meredith Monk - Songs of Ascension is one of several excellent non-prog albums from this year. |

Steven Wilson over Discipline. Some others... Brian Ellis- Quipu The ASTRA and BIRTH multi-instrumentalist shows his other sides with jazz fusion and zeuhl on this one. Ga'an- Black Equus My Brother The Wind- I Wash My Soul... Devin Townsend Project's Deconstruction just edges out Phideaux's Snowtorch from this list, two albums that I enjoy end to end and still listen to regularly. Many other good releases on the list. I A Moon remains my favourite North Sea Radio Orchestra. Grace for Drowning has some pretty good moments. Leprous and PJ Harvey are also quite good, although I came to them after this year. Some other great albums from this year: Bent Knee - s/t - I don't see this one getting as much love as their later stuff, but honestly they started off strong right out the gate. Bjork - Biophilia - one of my top by her Bob Geldof - How To Compose Popular Songs that will Sell - An album of surprisingly well put together rock tracks that, I don't think, sold (the title comes form a book Sir Bob found at the library) Dave Willy & Friends - Immeasurable Currents - been a while since I listened to this one, but Thinking Plague adjacent poetic music Deerhoof - Deerhoof vs Evil - my intro to this wild band, and a very good album. A good demonstrate of how these guys merge the playful with the off kilter.
