Prehistoric Blackout was the side project of Boston-based American musician and Sunburned Hand of the Man member Taylor Richardson. Active from 2008 to approximately 2012, Richardson performed drifting and abstract kosmische drone along the lines of his contemporaries Super Minerals, Bee Mask and Flower Man. Richardson also recorded similar music with Double Leopards' Marcia Bassett under the name Purple Haze, and with Emeralds' Mark McGuire as Infinity Window.

Prehistoric Blackout's humble discography consists of four limited-run cassettes from 2008 to 2009, namely two EPs and two splits: one with McGuire and the other a document capturing one of the project's mere half-dozen live appearances, recorded at Daniel Lopatin's release party for Oneohtrix Point Never's Rifts in Brooklyn.

"Wake Up Dead" (2008)

from split with Mark McGuire (2008)

"Synth Night" live split with Oneohtrix Point Never, No Fun Acid and Keith Fullerton Whitman (2009)

"Stone Reaper" (2009)
