Subject: 4: Not in PA Your known least liked of my liked

This is part four covering 25 other acts with tracks/pieces I like, but unlike the others polls whose choices were in PA, in these these are not. These are the known kind of suspects from me (covered most of these tracks before, various multiple times, and that helps to have more that is now known) but I expect some who generally like artists might not like ones I went with. This is one series where I would not want to please everybody :) -- not that I ever would.
To vote you need not know the majority of tracks, you only need to have heard and dislike one track in the list, or just like one less than the others you know.
I have made a playlist (see below) with all the options in case anyone opts to check out any of the music and remind oneself of any of the options.
Comments about the music are very much appreciated. Please mention what you like and don't like (if applicable), what your favourites by these artists are etc. When I do polls I do hope they lead to both some comments and some conversation between people.

Who voted for Joy Division's "Decades"? Love to put names to faces, but since that option is not available, love to put votes to names. :)

I like the four tracks I know (Leonard Cohen, Nina Hagen, Joy Division and Nick Drake). No vote as yet. If I have a little bit of time left, I listen to the playlist and vote for the first track I don't like.

I appreciate that. Happy, or should I say, not so happy hunting? This is one topic where I can say, wishing you efficient success in finding something you don't like. In a couple of cases I went with more popular songs here rather than my usual favourites thinking those might be known. "Spellbound" would be good example of that; love the album it's off, but it was other tracks that have especially stood out for me with Siouxsie and The Banshees. Also I had planned to do a different Nick Cave track.
I had been concerned that I might be accused of fostering a kind of negativity with these topics of music I like. I like to hear about what connects with people and what does not. That does not make the music good or bad, it says something about the listener, their interests, their exposure....

I know a bunch of these, will give my vote to Melody's echo Chamber, but honestly I like pretty much everything I know on this list quite fine. Our tastes seem to overlap quite a bit both in and out of prog.

I have noticed that too. Love to check out more music you think fine.

Love the video for Wild Time too. It makes me feel so nostalgic. But Joanna Newsom getting a thumbs down, that just does not sit right. It feels overly lacking in chivalry to me and dad-me wants to protect her. To me that track is magical. Magical is my word of the week, by the way. I adore both those tracks.
My most played of these of late, by the way, has been Fishmans Long Season for the live version in my playlist. I like the whole 130 minutes live album (98.12.28 Otokotachi no wakare), but did listen to it specially for Long Season at first (I had the Long Season studio album). That's my favourite live album currently.

^ Sorry, it's just that voice. I've never been a fan of Joanna Newsom, so I very much doubt if I'll ever find a song of hers I actually like.
On the plus side though, I did buy a Julia Holter album recently following your recommendation.

Oh no worries, I was not actually offended. She sounds like a child and having had a daughter my fathering instincts kick in. Totally get not enjoying the vocals. To me it is not an issue, and even is part of the charm. I find it delightful. Thanks for explaining.
Julia Holter is wonderful. I love a number of her albums. I almost went with one here from the album Have You in My Wilderness which I think does remain my favourite album of hers, much as I love Aviary and others too. Her latest, Something in the Room She Moves from this year took me more time to warm up to but is now is one of my favourites of 2024. Beth Gibbons' Lives Outgrown is my favourite 2024 album still, and I really like St. Vincent's All Born Screaming album from this year as another artist represented in this list. My St Vincent choice in the poll is from 2009's Actor.
