While listening to ELO before I fell asleep last night I thought of this for a poll idea.

Optional sub poll (choose one or two of the following in addition
to the above official poll):

A. ELP were too pretentious
B. ELO were too poppy

C. i used to like ELP but not so much now
D. I used to like ELO but not so much now

I have three times as many ELO albums as ELP (9 against 3) so it's an easy win for ELO for me. Smile

ELO. Lynne can't compose Tarkus, but ELP can't compose Kuiama or 10538 😁

I voted for ELP. I love ELO as well though. Smile

ELO always had a very weird vibe for me. There's a sound to their music that I don't really enjoy. It's hard to put into words.

ELP, hands down.

Definitely ELO for me, which not only do I generally prefer, but I think more "consistently quality" through the 70s.

ELP witho a doubt. ELO is good, specially their early work, but ELP certainly was a better band, at least in my book.

Interesting, i have not thought that ELP was good beyond its first few albums. I would say that ELO's 1974 work is much better than ELP with the late 70s works, but then I also prefer ts earlier albums to those of ELP. I appreciate ELP's debut the most, and used to like trilogy very much.

Neither are really among my favorites but I would choose ELP over anything by ELO, any day!

not that i would expect you to like it, but this was maybe my first favourite ELO songs when I was a child (my eldest brother was into ELO)

"Mission (A World Record)" off a New World Record.

Weirdly, perhaps, ELP's In the Hot Seat was not nearly as bad for me as I was expecting.

I've heard that song called garbage yet I quite enjoy it.

Both are exceptional albums but ELP's debut is a masterpiece.

It has to be ELO for me, they're much much more consistent

This poll is about the bands and not specific albums.

I like ELO, but ELP easy in a walk. Live, ELP had few equals in the rock world when it came to musicianship and showmanship. Always a fun show.

This one is so easy to me as it can be, ELP.

5 minutes of Tarkus encapsulates more 'music' and sound than everything ELO combined

Grew up with much of ELO and like them a lot, but I mostly prefer ELP overall.

ELP. ELO got annoyingly poppy after the first few albums.

Wow, it looks like ELP is running away with this. I'm not sure they would do so good if they were up against Gentle Giant though.
