I'm more concerned what Roger will do with his parts that still belongs to him.
I'm even a bit surprised he agreed to let go.

Hi,
I just hope they stop all the stupid bickering, and move on.
I kinda think that the idea is to simplify their time, and not have to worry about numbers and accountants as bad as it has been, and making decisions they don't want to make because of the bickering ... now, a lot of it is out of their hands ... and hopefully it will stop a lot of the bickering and who killed the last goon!
I'm gonna wait for Roy Harper's song about this ... I bet it will have a ripped (exploded) Cuban cigar ... for sure! I can hear it now ... you gonna sell your bollocks, just like all of the trollops, making money that is a drag, and you use it like a rag ... (whispering ... ) a very dirty rag! ... (and song continues) ... talk about it like its a crime ... and behave like it is all just slime .... in the last days and sights ... I let go of all my lights ... and words ... and ... (whispering ... ) and cares!

I would have thought their music would be worth more, a Billion or so.
I hope this won't mean endless compilations, unless 1965-68 rarities was issued

PF kept the songwriting rights, holding down the $$$. I hope they can get by on $400MM

I'm perfectly fine with artists selling their catalog, especially these from the 70's who now have their own kids as well grandkids and extended family. These families can have income for generations as long as they don't try and buy an island or something.
I think of it like this, I am 100% sure none of these 70's artists had any thought, not a molecule of a thought back then to dream that one day, 40years later their music would be worth $300-$400 million.
As long as there are buyers I say CASH IN!

Hi,
I've always stated that the bootlegs, specially from the first days of David Gilmour, all the way to DSOTM, were worth it and the various bits and pieces and details of some of the stuff was neat ... I remember about 4 or 5 different versions of "Set The Controls For The Heart Of The Sun", and how good they were and seeing them in 1972 at the Hollywood Bowl (Quadraphonic Sound with stuff going all over and around you and then some!!!), was much better and far out than the last time that they were worth seeing, which was the Animals tour, though I used to have the Anaheim triple bootlegs, and it was neat, and I think better than the actual album, though I kinda miss (at the time) the original versions of "Sheep" and "You Gotta Be Crazy" (Dogs) ... and that original version of "Sheep" in those bootlegs was pure Space Rock ... a wonderful take to "Astronomy Domine" and "Interstellar Overdrive" ... but the bootlegs for DSOTM and TW were not that good and I think that the controls at each venue were much to strict to allow for a decent bootleg to be made ... for example, in one bootleg that I did not have and heard at a friend's house, the band spread out "Money" as an encore and expanded it neatly ... we have never heard that at all, otherwise.
It's a shame that some bands are better live than they were on record, and this certainly was the case for PF for about 3 years, but the mechanized and computerised setup for DSOTM, WYWH and TW, made for the shows to have to be tight to the visuals and everything else ... and in many ways, it took the far out out of the band ... DSOTM was still a great show, but already you could tell that the band had walked itself into a somewhat impossible corner ... not to mention that at that time the band started picking up the worst fans, that were often too ripped to enjoy a show ... before, it was so quiet and you tripped on the sounds, specially in the Quad setup ... but later, the feeling and the appreciation for their work, just was not there as far as I am concerned. And later, the biting and arguments, got pathetic, and took my appreciation of the band out of it all ... there were other things out there in rock music that were far better and more interesting than a PF rehash, which it all became after TW.

It may be strange to those of us who listen to their music, but the fact that much of it is now 50 years old or older, and that the band members are the same, it comes down to a business rather than an artistic decision. The artistry is beyond question. The success of this band is beyond all earlier expectations. It is a way to leave a financial legacy for family and descendants with a smaller chance for petty bickering. Yes, all this music was made by people with children and grandchildren now. Apparently, this has been in the works for years.

Probably more to the 1987 court case than we thought. Beyond the name usage I think.
Is Pink Floyd (1987) music included too?

Everything I have read is anything the name Pink Floyd made, so not just what RW was involved in. But I suspect that was part of the internal bickering was having to tell Roger he was not getting anything for after The Final Cut.
