that you don't own?
Mine is: Dream Theater - Scenes From A Memory Metropolis Part II (16th place)
I'm not a big fan of prog metal as you can guess.
In symphonic prog, my favourite genre, the highest rated album which I don't have is "A trick of the tale" (26th place), I think I'll buy it in the near future.
I have 51 of the 100 top albums, I'll buy more of these and other albums in the future, but not Dream Theater and other prog metal albums, and also not Rush (I have "Moving Pictures" and I don't like it too much).

I wouldn't base my purchasing and wish list on the 100 top albums list. There are so many good albums not listed there. It is not to say that the albums there are bad, not at all. just try to be open to other possibilities than this particular list.
Have you tried any pre "Moving Picture" Rush albums? Or are you not too enthusiastic with guitar oriented music?

I don't have Close to the Edge - beat that! I think I win this thread.
I had it years ago on tape and listened to it a lot. I don't have that tape any more and I haven't got around to getting the CD yet so I don't have it.

Have you noticed how the top 100 changes quite a lot over time, particularly around the bottom? New albums enter the top 100 quite regularly. I noticed that Frank Zappa's Hot Rats came in recently and now it has gone up to number 80.

I can do 56 of the Top 100. Like you, my first "missing" one is Dream Theater's "Scenes from.." at #16. I'm not a great fan of prog metal, and although I own a couple Dream Theater discs, I can't really see me adding this one to my collection.
Of the Top 100 discs that I'm missing, only 3 are on my "Wish List", but there are a few of artists that I've yet to hear. I'm sure there's some stuff in there that I've yet to "discover"!!

^^ Yup Bob, I guess you win the thread! However you have owned CTTE and
do know the album...I must admit to never having really got into Jethro
Tull, I do not own and am not familiar with "Thick As A Brick" which
stands at no. 4. It's not something I'm either proud or ashamed of -
just never really caught my attention. I currently buy 1 or 2 CD's a
month and I will make one them a Tull one soon.
^ Agree with what you're saying about the albums in the lower half,
another that I think has gone up the poll is Tool's Lateralus. Have to
say I don't follow the poll as such but have noticed some large
movements in the lower 50

That's how these top lists should work ... albums should enter them, more people get to know them and write reviews, the album climbs further ... or drops out of the list again.
I recommend the general top 100 for newcomers, and the genre specific list for advanced listeners.

Well, of course I don't base my purchasing on that. I have many albums which are no way near the top 100, and I like them very much. Prog Archives is not my only source of information about Prog.
About Rush - I heard "2112" (only the title track - not the whole album). The beginning is really great, but I don't like Geddy's voice too much. I don't have anything against guitar oriented music, but now on my wish list I have some softer music, like Renaissance and Strawbs (Grave New World is a great album!!!).

I can understand your dislike of Lee's voice, but I like it. Renaissance is great (Ashes are burning and Turn of the Cards especially). What else are you into right now?

Well, I was listening to Pink Floyd for years before I discovered prog (that happened about a year ago). I like all the big names - King Crimson, Gentle Giant, Genesis (Gabriel's era), Yes, Camel and others. I was listening a lot to "Hybris" recently, it's a great album. I also want to buy the album in my signature, "Voyage of the Acolyte" - so far I have it only in mp3. I expect to get "Tales from topographic oceans" any day now, so I would try to dive into that, though I'm not sure at all that I'll like it.
