Hair on a G-String

Sorry, was going to hold of on this. I doubled up three poll options this time. Again, these are all acts with an album or albums that I like. While the list is based on personal preference, I am liable to miss favourites of mine as I can be quite scatterbrained. I did this time try to check what is in PA for "G" Bands/Artists after I listed about 25 choices.

Again, I encourage people to vote for three of these acts if they have three that they like (or more or less -- it is multiple choice) and to mention those and also please list your own favourites not in the poll.

Some I would have liked to have in the poll (felt I had too many doubles already):

- Galaxie 500
- The Gathering
- Geese
- German Oak
- Manuel Göttsching
- Granddaddy
- Grim
- Grouper

Some names that others might like to consider mentioning in hard to read format:

- A band that reminds me of a girl I had, Galahad
- That wizard from the Lord of the Rings, Saruman, no Gandalf, and his fist
- Needs no intro, Garaj Mahal
- The pride of the aristocracy, Gaylord
- Gazpacho, which like revenge is a dish best served cold
- Gerard NOT Depardieu
- Kevin Gilbert (sad story)
- Giles, Giles and someone who may Fripp me the bird for not being included in a poll, again.
- Rosencrantz and Gildenlöw Are Dead (can't stop the Tom Stoppard jokes)
- The celebrated collaboration between MC Hammer and Philip Glass called Glass Hammer
- The divine taste of Godley & Creme or The Gods themselves
- Oh god, it's the huge atomic dinosaur threatening Tokyo, aka Gojira
- Sounds like Godzilla broke into adult films with Gongzilla, or was that Dongzilla?
- The sister act to Silver Nipplering, Golden Earring
- A clown you likely would not want to hire for a children's party named Gorguts
- Greenslade, Grobschnitt and Guildenstern are not dead.

By the way, i think that all in the poll are in PA other than Beth Gibbons. She has my favourite album of this year.

Hope to hear about what you like on the list and off the list.

I'd have liked Greenslade, The Gathering, Glass Hammer, Galahad, Green Carnation and even for old times sake, Grey Lady Down!

I very much like Grandaddy's music, particularly The Sophtware Slump album. I have all their studio albums, except the one they released this year (but it's on my list of things to buy). They don't get mentioned much on this site, so it's nice to see them mentioned in your post.

Genesis and GAM standout, my picks. There are too many others that are also right there to vote for more.

Genesis and Ghost.

I assumed you meant by Ghost the current Swedish metal band? Undoubtedly one of my favourite current bands 👻✝️😎

I would jokingly say not a Ghost of a chance, but I meant the Psych Folk/Rock band from Japan, which is included in Prog Archives. The other Ghost is not in PA, I had not heard of it, and I thought that all were in PA other than Beth Gibbons solo.

This is my Ghost:

And this is yours:

EDIT: and then I realise that I have heard the Swedish Ghost before, including that song from 2022 that I listed. And this I had heard before:

The 3 obvious ones (or those with top votes anyway). Never been a great fan of Gong but not really tried that hard. 'Jokey' bands have never been my thing. Godspeed are good. I saw them play live about 6-7 years ago and was surprised how young the crowd was. I don't listen to them that much though.

I'll avoid the usual suspects (although I have nothing against them), and also the double options (as I don't like double poll options) and vote for
Guapo, Gosta Berling's Saga, GSY!BE.
I could well have voted for Geinoh Yamashirogumi who is even less usual suspect than GSY!BE, but both were standing at 2 votes, so GSY!BE gets the third vote just about.

Geinoh Yamashirogumi :

It should be classified under the letter Y of this list

This time around I'll bypass the big names, and go with the single digit vote getters.

Geinoh Yamashirogumi
Guapo
And a first vote for Goat, though could be GY!BE.

The poll contains 25 of my favourites [edit: make that 29 by doubling up some options as the max is 25 spaces for a poll here] and I already left various favourites off the list. Galahad is not one of my favourites. I ask people to vote for and mention three (or more or less) from the poll if they like any in the poll, and to mention their own favourites that are not in the poll.

I did prepare a list of some notable names that I was not considering for the poll that others might want to mention in the opening post, and Galahad is the first of those I mentioned.

Quote Some names that others might like to consider mentioning in hard to read format:

- A band that reminds me of a girl I had, Galahad
