This poll is based entirely on the presumption that 99.9% of those who own and enjoy Genesis's Foxtrot  would choose "Supper's Ready" as their favorite song on the album. I entirely agree with and support this opinion, and would even say that it's by far the best of any song on their first four albums.

None of the above 5 songs were performed very often (if at all) in the band's live shows after 1976, but they do have their defenders/supporters. After "Supper's Ready", what's your favorite song on Foxtrot?

I voted wrong either way, Super's Ready has never been my favorite song on Foxtrot. Surely, I enjoy the epic, but Get'em Out by Friday, Watcher... and Can-Utility and the Coastliners I've always liked more.

Can-Utility and the Coastliners. Thanks for the dimensionless numbers and ferrofluids! Yum!

Get 'Em Out by Friday

I've never been too crazy about the A-side really. And Get'Em Out By Friday is almost as awful as Battle of Epping Forest. But something happened the last couple of times I've listened to Watcher of the Skies. Now I genuinely love it.

Watcher of the Skies is one of the great album opening tracks in my entire collection...

Can Utility, because it's everything Genesis could do soooo excellent, condesed into below 6 minutes.

Actually, "Supper's Ready" is my second favorite on the album after "Can-Utility", which is everything great about Genesis in a small package.

Time Table. My #1 is Can-Utility though. Supper's Ready comes at #3.

Watcher of the skies. I enjoy hearing it on Genesis live too.

Yep they all great but I have a soft spot for Time Table. The melody is one of Genesis best. Maybe it harks back a tiny bit to their pre prog existence and perhaps would have pointed the way forward for them if progressive rock had never existed.

Get 'em Out.... I've always loved the lyrics and my word, they are more relevant today than ever!

This is an album I enjoy as a whole, so it's hard to pick a favorite. I'll have to think very hard before I can vote for a first or second favorite.

Time Table, I don't understand why it gets so much dislike. Now, the one I do dislike is Get'em out by Friday. Just annoying. Part of my annoying trilogy, along with Harold the Barrel and Battle of Epping Forest, the three songs that ruin albums for me. However, Watcher of the Skies somehow never called much my attention until I heard Hackett's solo version on Tokyo Tapes... now, that one on that version would be my favourite of the lot.

It's one of those songs where the verse and bridge is better than the chorus (dear father by Yes is another one like that).

Can-Utility. The only song I like from Side One.

Can-Utility and the Coastliners ( aka Bye Bye Johnny when played live before 1972)

Should be a poll maybe? Wink

I'm also thinking that ELP would also have an 'Annoying Trilogy' with Jeremy Bender, The Sheriff and Benny The Bouncer. In both cases the middle one chronologically speaking is the least annoying of the 3 for me anyway.

I don't think I've ever noticed anyone actively disliking Time Table. It's just rarely anyone's absolute favorite. I like it, but I do not consider it a stand out. Same goes for Harold the Barrel which I think is an enjoyable little ditty. I'm glad it only lasts for three minutes though. Not eight-and-a-half, or almost twelve minutes of ear-torture - like the other ones in your annoying trilogy.
