I was very underwhelmed when I bought the Manifesto album back in 1979 after Roxy Musics 'hiatus' and thought the comeback single 'Trash' was a poor choice of single at the time.

Over the years I have grown to love it though, especially the title track.  Smile

Manifesto was my favourite Roxy Music album up to that point in time and far more interesting than the later Labour Party Manifesto which was labelled "The longest suicide note in history." Tongue

I voted for John Wetton. Roxy Music comes second, but not by much.

Luther Vandross was a backing singer on the 'Manifesto' album. Smile

You can Never have Too Much of Luther. Hard to believe it's nearly twenty years now since he ascended to that great gospel choir in the sky. Broken Heart

By the way, I used to have a ghetto blaster just like the one featured at the start of the above video. Smile

There is a 'Manifesto' picture disc on e-bay which I have got my eye on, as I am a bit of a Roxy Music/Bryan Ferry completist. I wish I had bought it back in the day. Smile

I wonder if Bryan Ferry will release any new music (he is 79 this year).

His last release was a 4-track digital only EP 'Love Letters' a couple of years ago, and his voice sounded very frail.

He has produced a fantastic legacy of work, particularly those Roxy Music albums. Smile

It's probably best that he hangs up his white tuxedo for good if he's now sounding very frail, and as you say, Bryan Ferry and Roxy Music have left us with such a fantastic legacy of work to Dance Away to that we couldn't ask for More than This. Clap

Based on already owning (and loving) some of their classics, I bought a cheap copy of it without having heard any of the songs sometime in the 1990's. I dismissed it as boring and bland after listening through it once. Since then I've grown to love the albums two hits (Angel Eyes and Dance Away) which hardly registered as anything out of the ordinary on that one - or maybe it was two album listens. Guess I wanted more Art Rock and not "Sophisti-Pop". I relistened to it yesterday, for the first time in decades, because of this poll. As expected, I enjoyed it more. I actually loved 2/3rds of it. I might even enjoy it more than Ferry himself:

"Maybe the Manifesto album isn’t as strong as the others" "Trash, My Little Girl, Cry Cry Cry – that I wouldn’t listen to now" -Bryan Ferry 2022

-as I think Trash is a great track, although I agree it's a poor choice as the first single. I still think Flesh + Blood which has a similar reputation is the stronger of the two. I'll give that an 8/10 while Manifesto feel like a 7/10.
