is there a prog scene where you live?

in victoria i can say there isn't. we have one prog
band and that is it. i find that somewhat funny since a
ton of people out here love prog music, or anything
remotly trippy at all. we have an experimental music
festival. but we just have the one prog band.

Think this might have something to do with the ridiculous amount of pot here?

Anyway, I think the prog scene will blossom here once everyone finds out that the creators of prog-ska came from our city, eh D'Arcy?

I live in NYC.. you can find any scene you want here.  But we only have one classic rock radio station that plays a little PF or ELP, Yes... Genesis.. once in awhile.. but the clubs are booking a lot of older prog bands again.  Besides Keith Emerson and Yes playing here recently, Rod Argent was here, Caravan and Nectar are playing soon, Rush is playing, Jethro Tull, the Moody Blues...as far as newbie prog bands.. I don't guess I've been out looking for it... Maybe I should.

I live 20 minutes drive from Chippenham which will be holding a prog rock festival in October (Magenta,IQ,Ray Wilson etc).

My home town Swindon has 2 venues where bands play regularly. Both are within walking distance! I've seen Rick Wakeman,Jan Akerman,Carl Palmer,Colosseum and a Genesis tribute band(G2) in the last 12 months.

I don't really need a local prog scene because London is only just over an hour's drive away.I suppose my 'local' prog band would be IQ who come from Southampton which is about 75 minutes drive away from where I live.
