H to He, Who Am the Only One who doesn't like the Pawn Hearts album? Yes, that would be me then, and that's no Godbluff, as it appears I'm the only one here who doesn't like Pawn Hearts. We may disagree on our prog favourites, but The Least We Can Do is Wave to Each Other out of politeness. ProgArchives is absolutely Vital for prog lovers and proves that there's Still Life in prog at Present in 2024, and nothing can ALTer that fact. Prog-Rock might not set any World Records for album sales, but A Grounding in Numbers of members here at PA reveals that prog still has a decent following, whichever angle of the Trisector you look at it from. Who cares what the jaded music press thinks about prog. Their views Do Not Disturb me at all. Smile

Finally, it's the Lost Van der Graaf Generator poll. Simply list your Top 5 VDGG songs, then I'll assign points to your listings as per usual. Smile

1st song - 6 points
2nd song - 4 points
3rd song - 3 points
4th song - 2 points
5th song - 1 point

My Top 5 Van der Graaf Generator songs to kick things off with...

1. A House with No Door
2. Refugees
3. Darkness
4. Killer
5. Lemmings

Simply because I couldn't come up with a Top 7 as there's only five Van der Graaf Generator songs I know and like. Embarrassed

While you do this as five , not seven, I'll do the first seven albums, one song per album that I adore.

"Aquarian" off The Aerosol Grey Machine
"Darkness (11/11)" off The Least We Can Do Is Wave to Each Other
"Killer" off H to He Who Am the Only One
"A Plague of Lighthouse Keepers" off Pawn Hearts
"The Sleepwalkers" off Godbluff
"La Rossa" off Still Life
"Meurglys III, the Songwriter's Guild" off World Record

As you are counting points, I will go with:

1. "A Plague of Lighthouse Keepers"
2. "Darkness (11/11)"
3. "Killer"
4. "La Rossa"
5. "The Sleepwalkers"

Really wanted to include The Sleepwalkers and my choices are rather arbitrary. EDIT: actually, much as I love "Aquarian", I think I will move "Sleepwalkers" into fifth place.

Love VdGG; such a great band. One of my very favourites for sure.

There's no reason why you can't list your Top 7 VDGG songs if you want to. Smile

^and so I did, didn't I (although I only accepted one song from each album)? But I know those two last entries won't be counted anyway. But then again what does it matter...

No, I know how to behave in the restaurant now, I don't tear at the meat with my hands. If I've become a man of the world somehow, that's not necessarily to say I'm a worldly man.

1. Darkness.
2. The Sleepwalkers.
3. A Plague of Lighthouse Keepers.
4. Man-Erg.
5. La Rossa.
Though for me Plague is mostly the first half of the song, after that it becomes a bit too much.
