When you think of Post Rock and Shoegaze of the 90s you think of iconic indie rock albums such as Loveless, Lift Yr Skinny Fists or Soundtracks For The Blind. But an album that has slipped through the cracks and has gained a cult following is like no other from the genres. The Texas-Jerusalem Crossroads, a rock opera about the Second Coming of Jesus Christ that casts Texas as the Promised Land. The sound of the album has been best described as a crossover between SPIDERLAND by SLINT and LOVELESS by MY BLOODY VALENTINE. The band is Lift To Experience, formed in 1996 in Denton Texas by vocalist/guitarist Josh T. Pearson, drummer Andy "The Boy" Young, and bassist Josh "The Bear" Browning. In 2000 they would perform at a music festival, Robin Guthrie and Simon Raymonde of the Dream Pop band COCTEAU TWINS whitenessd the band and were so impressed they signed them to their record label the same day, they got to record their album but due to issues with the record label the album was only released in Europe, the album would eventually pick up traction on the internet and the band would gain a small following. The band would break up after an unsuccessful tour and poor show attendance because of this the second part in what world be a trilogy of albums were cancelled. Pearson would eventually make solo albums and that would lead into the band being reignited and touring again in 2016 and even a remaster of the album in the following year. The band would be more popular then they ever were, gaining a new wave of fans and recognition The Texas Jerusalem Crossroads now being considered one of the greatest and innovative Shoegaze/Post Rock albums ever.

The Texas-Jerusalem Crossroads is indeed a fascinating and often overlooked gem in the realms of Post Rock and Shoegaze. Lift To Experience's unique blend of sound, merging the atmospheric qualities of Loveless with the intensity of Spiderland, creates a compelling and distinctive listening experience. It’s impressive how this album, despite its initial limited release and subsequent challenges, has managed to capture the imagination of a dedicated fan base and achieve cult status over time. The story of the band’s journey—from their early days in Denton, the influential support from Robin Guthrie and Simon Raymonde, to their eventual revival and renewed success—highlights the enduring appeal and innovative spirit of their music. It's great to see that The Texas-Jerusalem Crossroads has gained the recognition it deserves and continues to resonate with both new and long-time listeners.
