I have a problem. Maybe someone who has some webdesign knowledge can help. Is there any way to block/blacklist reviews by selected PA users from appearing? For example, I'd like to blacklist AlainPP cuz his fake reviews are flooding the PA frontpage and I want to read other more valuable reviews without having to scroll past walls upon walls of Alain's text. :P

I don't think they're fake but they're very hard to read. I'm just looking at his review of The White Album and it makes very little sense, but I'm wondering if he's using a translator. Either that or his English is just not very good.

IMHO, he's not a fake or a troll
I looked into his many 4200 ratings and his reviews (apparently he started reviewing only fairly recently, but a fair rate) and none seem like he's trolling (he's even posted on the forum a few times)

Hi,
I have to admit that this could be an issue. There have been a few times, when the first review of this or that was not exactly well done, and I think that I ended up skipping a few things because of it.
My issue would not be a language thing ... since there is something that hurts and often, the translations are not very good, or at least "verified", or cleaned up, so they could make better sense. This was, for me, a harsh issue, for example when English was only in its 5th year when I heard Amon Duul 2 and tried to make sense of their lyrics. I kept thinking that they were mere translations from the German, and did not think much of anything else until 4 or 5 years later, when some lyrics, all of a sudden, are not at all out there ... they are very with it ... Mona Lisa is a bird brain ... perfect example.
The reviews I dislike, are the band kissers, and too many comments about something that is not there, and over infatuated with some of the things in it, pretty much making it clear that this person is a fan of the guitarist, or whomever ... and so on. Those, are a turn off. However, these folks tend to not "repeat" in other albums, since they are not (I guess) specifically ... listeners ... to the music ... for them it's about this one band and a quick check on the reviews by that person would answer that quickly. I suppose that if there were 5 reviews by one person and all of them were of the same band, saying the same thing (more or less), I might think they should be removed, since the reviews would be hurting more than they will engage other folks.
However, I'm not a fan of any kind of "fascism" in the area of censorship, as long as they allow for the opposite faction to also post ... it's when that's not allowed and guns are pulled, that things change. But, please ... don't remind me ... my dad, left Portugal because of its dictatorship and censorship (although it is thought and said otherwise), and to boot, 5 years after he had passed away, they were still checking on my mom, who had lost at least one brother to those policies!
We just need a much more honest procedure, and I would even consider something like ... you have to have posted X number of times in different topics and area of the board ... please do not be "affiliated" with the band so the review can be more honest ... simple requests that would help make sure that the reviewing person is honest.
I don't post much on PA in terms of reviews, most of them are on my website instead, not because I am afraid of comments, but mainly, it is a rather frustrating process for me, and I have to login again, and often I can not remember my password ... at 74, things don't always get easier in your head ... but the love and appreciation for the art itself ... that's another story!

^ We could even make you the arbiter of which review is honest and which isn't. Wouldn't that be grand?

Hi,
Having lived with a programmer for almost 15 years, one of the things you learn is that you don't write down passwords ... for someone to pick them up, and specially in the same computer, or network.
I simply have to be carefull, and clever with the passwords ... btw ... my friend once showed me one of his Unix passwords ... I cracked up! "...noonewillbestupidenoughtoevenconsiderthatthepasswordwasnotreallyap1$$w0rd!"

but you called someone out when you could have just left it as a general question. ![Confused Confused](smileys/smiley5.gif) | The reason is simple. I had to expose that mofo. AlainPP uses AI to generate some of his reviews. You can tell that by his English profficiency level. The broken English reviews are genuine I think, while those in which the grammar is good are ChatGPT.

Writing a password down isn't a great idea but there are loads of password manager apps that you can install on PCs and phones which sync to the cloud. They will also generate passwords for you and you can copy and paste into login screens. All you need to remember is the password to the app itself.

Shіt! I guess I have no other choice but to memorize all my 100+ different passwords by heart and remove my passwords.txt file

Use a password manager app e.g. SafeInCloud.

That's ridiculous. Everybody i know including myself has a little note binder where all the passwords are written. Note books cannot be hacked.
Who's gonna steal someone's PA password and log in?
That sounds unlikely.
Sure, maybe if you have a Bitcoin account with millions of dollars you may want to keep it in a safe or something but for trivial sites that have nothing to do with money then why not?

I keep a note of all my important passwords in a Notepad (.txt) file and store it on a USB memory stick - not on my PC obviously.
