I'm voting Getz/Gilberto. What a lovely little album that is. I know I
should have voted for The Black Saint and the Sinner Lady, but I stuggle a bit enjoying big band/brass. I always reach for Mingus Ah Um over this one. Some actual favorites: Lee Hazlewood - Trouble Is a Lonesome Town (1963) Prince Lasha Quintet Featuring Sonny Simmons - The Cry! (1963) The Ventures - (The) Ventures in Space (1963) François Rabbath - The Sound of a Bass (1963) Julie London - Latin in a Satin Mood (1963) Eric Dolphy - Out to Lunch (1964) Grachan Moncur III - Evolution (1964) Herbie Hancock - Empyrean Isles (1964) Jackie McLean - Destination Out! (1964) Chico Hamilton - Man From Two Worlds (1964) -as it's probably the best year in all of jazz for me and jazz is the best, I'm gonna need five more: Yusef Lateef - Eastern Sounds (1964) Andrew Hill - Judgment (1964) John Coltrane Quartet - Crescent (1964) Paul Bley - Footloose (1964) Jan Johansson - Jazz pċ Svenska (1964) |
