I try to make these kinds of polls as fair as possible. If I don't put some kind of restriction on them then they turn out to be more of a popularity contest than they need to be (kind of inevitable to some degree anyway I suppose). I'm not voting either even though I probably could.

I voted for Black Bonzo. They had a couple of killer albums. Black Sabbath are of course, the best known of these. Blackfield would probably be my #3. -------------

Black is beautiful -- so many black bands that I like. I voted for black midi, been really digging Cavalcade especially of late. My classic choice from the poll would be Black Widow -- I love the debut Sacrifice. From ProjeKCt's copious list -- what less would one expect from a member of the omissions team? - lol --, I really love Godspeed You! Black Emperor. I’m familiar with Black Country New Road, Black Midi, Black Mountain, and Black Sabbath. Like them all to varying degrees but gave my vote to BCNR. Well, I can't fit all those on here anyway. I probably could have included GYBE but I was looking for ones who started with B and ones who I at least heard of at that. I could have added the Black Keys too but they aren't considered prog.

Know the music from six out of these, love Black Midi, Black Sabbath and Black Widow. Godspeed You! Black Emperor! would have taken the latter bands place, it they were in the poll.

I only have one Black Mountain album (Wilderness Heart I think it's called). I wonder if they got their name from both Black Sabbath and Mountain.

Well, it'll make a nice change for people of my generation to be one day sitting around together in old folk's homes listening to Black Sabbath, Deep Purple & Led Zeppelin instead of Vera Lynn, Mrs. Mills and George Formby.
