I would have to go with the 60s due to how radical the majority of the decade was. All of the counterculture shown throughout those movies are enough to make me watch most of these with excitement rather than with boredom and most of them have a certain charm to them, especially the ones from France.

So here are 1-2 my favorite films from each decade.

1930s - It Happened One Night
1940s - Sullivans Travels/Double Indemnity
1950s - Rear Window/Seventh Seal
1960s - Cleo From 5 To 7
1970s - Celine And Julie Go Boating/Rivette's Duelle(A little known gem)/Monty Python and The Holy Grail(probably the funniest movie I ever seen)
1980s - No idea. Last good movies I saw from this decade were Gandhi and Amadeus though.
1990s -  La Confidential/Green Mile
2000s - Not a particular fan of this decade to say the least but Kill Bill was the movie that introduced me to rated-R movies. I wonder how it will hold up as it has been 5 years since I first seen it.
2010s - Whiplash or Moonrise Kingdom for now.

So there you have it, I had an easy time with the 50s-70s because that is the where all of the juice is for me. I will probably have a different board next time I do this since I still am starting to watch movies.

Hi,

Kinda interesting, but I honestly can not make up my mind. The minute I choose one I say ... what about Bunuel? And Godard? ... and I have to change my thoughts.

I think I like the year of the Film Directors a lot more than anything in the past 30 years, that has buried the director's ability and talent, with the exception of a Scorcese, for example, and even then his work, while always nice, is more of class on directing for film classes in America, than it is anything that is very special in terms of cinematography, music, or this or that.

I miss the far out, weird, and off the rocker material that a lot of directors created. Nowadays, you won't see it because there are 15 pay channels and you only have 2 of those and you can not see that movie! The whole thing is not about the art anymore, it's about the money ... and the artist, does not even see much of it anymore ... that's the Americanization of it all because of TV.

Music is not just for listening ... it is for LIVING ... you got to feel it to know what's it about! Not being told!

Most of my favourite films were made in the 80's mostly because I love sci-fi and horror. The seventies was great for gritty films such as Serpico, The French Connection (I and II) and of course the Godfather films.

Favourite film has been Blade Runner since the directors cut version came out in the early 90's.

Most of my favourite films were from the 1970's.

Young Frankenstein and Blazing Saddles were particular favourites.
