Hi guys,
I'm going to Paris for a week soon and I'd like to know whether you know any good music stores (CDs!) around there.

Thanks!

I bought some fine progrock albums in the FNAC warehouse but that's 10 years ago!

Virgin megastore at the Champs-Elysées. There is a prog corner (with modern prog bands Marillion, Spock, TFK, Mostly autumn, Pendragon, but also less modern like PFM) and in the pop/rock shelf you will find all the great prog bands such as KC and their solos, PF, Genesis and their solos, Renaissance, ELP... plus many CDs of the Repertoire records among which the reissue of Dando shaft's albums. There is also a shelf devoted to AOR, in which you will find Ambrosia's complete discography. In the metal shelf, you will find all the prog-metal bands such as DT and their solos, PoS, Tool, and many others. Besides this shelf are filed the guitarists such as Joe striani, Steve vai, Steve Morse and many others. There is also a shelf devoted to jazz-rock with Allan Holdsworth, pat metheny, larry Coryell, The Jazz Crusaders, Scott Henderson, mahavishnu Orchestra, RTF...

Gibert Joseph (near the Sorbonne) has also a prog shelf (with italian prog CDs, albums of the shroom label and prog bands like TFK, Camel, ELP, KC, Ange, A.CT., Ayreon, Clepsydra, Iona, Thinking plague, Sotos...). Genesis, PF, Queen, Mike Oldfield, Supertramp, Dixie Dregs, Bruford, Amon Duul are all in the pop/rock shelf. The prog-metal bands (apart from Ayreon and A.C.T.) are filed in the metal field. There is an alternative rock shelf where you will find Fantomas, Primus, The dillinger escape plan, Coheed and Cambria, Tool, A perfect circle... At the same level, you have also an 'independent' shelf with bands like Sonic Youth, The smashing pumpkins... On the floor there is a lot of classical albums, including contemporaries such as Gorecki, Philip Glass, Penderecki... On the second floor you will find jazz and jazz-related musics such as jazz-rock, I once saw the 'sleepy time gorilla museum' album filed there (?). You will find here artists such as Pat Metheny, Magma, Allan Holdsworth, Jan Garbarek, Spyro Gyra, mahavishnu orchestra, John Coltrane, the tzadik label with John Zorn...

Gibert Joseph
and "Fnac Bastille" features a section where they blend prog, psyche, folk, many 60's/70's masterpieces are concentrated into a little section.
