Hi,

Goodness ... Mike has a "tribute"?

All he needs is "Tubular Bells 69" ... and he's done! Well, it won't have Vivian Stanshall on it, so it can't be half as good!

Tubular Bells is twice as good without John Cleese on it though. Tongue

Hi,

Vivian Stanshall (Bonzo Dog Doo Dah Band), taught John Cleese everything he learned. Unlike John Cheese, though, Vivian Stanshall was a consumate actor in all of his material done for the Bonzo Dog Band, and his solo albums before he passed away were not exactly ... well, let's say that they were stranger than fiction. but, you still saw the actor.

BTW, out of the Bonzo Dog Band came some great folks ... the musicians that stood out the most were Neil Innes who passed away recently, and Roger Ruskin Spear, who had at least 2 solo albums that were fantastic, and in one of them is a version of "Pinball Wizard" that shines above them all and was a Dr. Demento favorite! Neil Innes, of course, went on to also stick it with Monty Python, but his solo albums are excellent. Vivian, we all think, became sad that not many folks enjoyed his acting efforts, and sadly passed away ... but the different voices, and deliveries are absolutely fabulous and how well, and how many times he did this is ... insane. Many actors hope to get half of that down in their repertoire.

More story ... Legs Larry Smith is the person that "taught" Keith Moon to kick his drums off the stage, in several shows the Bonzo's opened for The Who at that time. Kind of a strange mix to have a comedy group open for Boris the Spider, but Pete Townsend and the guys thought it was funny and cool.

More story ... in Magical Mystery Tour, in the dance bar, the "silent" band playing? The Bonzo Dog Band ...

Fadalack - The guiding lights of tribute acts with North Star from Mike Oldfield's Platinum album, which ironically, only sold just enough copies to achieve a Gold certification - not Platinum. Smile
