| I'm not familiar with the album apart from a few songs- I love 'Isn't Life Strange' a lot (one of their best) yet I really never liked 'I'm Just A Singer In A Rock 'N' Roll Band' at all; it set the template for the more basic, weaker albums like 'Octave' and 'The Present'... |

To me it is a dear part of the Classic Seven, never any problems in liking it. On Mike Pinder's songwriting it could be the best... Lost in a Lost World, When You're a Free Man. |

| My problem with The Moody Blues is that to me half of the songs on their albums is an excellent progressive blend of rock and classic and the other half has too much pop tendencies. During the years I have sold all my albums, I only own the great 2-CD This Is The Moody Blues featuring most of their strong work. |

One of my favourite Moody Blues albums. As mentioned above, Ray Thomas' track is one of his best. "I'm just a singer in a rock-n-roll band gets me going every time, and "Isn't life strange" and "New horizons" have a wonderful relaxed feel to them. By the way, anyone familiar with Ray Thomas' two solo albums "From mighty oaks" and "Poems wishes and dreams" (I think |

My least favourite of the 7 classic ones. Also the only one I did not acquired (as LP) when it was released. Albums like "On the threshold of a dream" or "A question of balance" sounded new and experimental back in '69-70 while "Seventh Sojourn" sounded "dated" in '72, especially when you compare with other major 1972 releases. It was the first "new" album that came out when I was first a Moodies fan. I had collected all the rest retrospectively, and so was looking forward to some brand new stuff. I remember being particularly disappointed that Isn't Life Stange was included as we had been promised it would be a single-only release - just being greedy for more I guess! The first two tracks were standout stuff, but thereafter I felt it lost something, and I'm Just a Singer was never a favourite. It is certainly the least "progressive" of the classic 7, but then again lightyears better than anything thereafter (I gave up after Octave which I thought was a bit of a stinker). I haven't heard it in years now, but just looking at the track listing again, there's nothing really that excites me now after the first two tracks. |

Hello Krauthead, I think that Seventh Sojourn should be in the last position, as you can se from my latest review. The best is days Of Future Passed for its great impact and influence, then In Search Of The Lost Chord. I haven't listened to all the albums from them yet, so I can't complete your poll! P.S. What do you think about Amon Duul II? |

I have the "classic 7 albums" and Seventh Sojourn is their weekest. Don't know why I asked... I have problems by complete it by myself, all have good moments though...

Nice collection Andrea and I suppose that the quality of the sound must be great since it was released in 2005. Their best albums are: Tanz Der Lemminge (their most progressive effort and one of the best albums ever made), if you find the Repertoire resmatered cd, buy it Andrea and I promiss you that you wont regret it. Yeti, their second album is also very fine with the Soap Shop Rock as the starter and it continues in that way throughout the whole album, if you bought Tanz Der Lemminge and like it you will need this aswell. Phallus Dei, what I guess is latin for 'God's Penis'... their first and very solid work, not as good as the two above albums though if the Tanz and Yeti are "5-stars albums" then 'Phallus' is a 4.5 so it's lightyears from crap. 'Live In London' is also very good. 'Wolf City' is great, almost a classic. 'Carnival In Babylon', here the band begins to "drop" a bit though not bad at all. I can only recommend you the double album 'Made In Germany' witch came in 1975, read reviews for this since it's more like a strange concept-rock-opera-something

Last time I heard Vortex it was so so, not bad but not a classic. Vive La Trance is not much of a "spin-worthy" album, the cover looks kind of cool and some of the songs are ok, but it leans more towards mainstream and pop... that's words that came across my mind when listening to it the last time, if you have all the albums that came before this and have money over and nowhere to spend them, give it a shot!

Back to the Moodies
Seventh sojourn is a strong pop/rock album but not particularly prog, By then the Moodies had been left well behind by others. Side One has some 4 excellent songs by the 4 different songwriters in the band. Side 2 starts vibrantly but the second track living in the land of make believe is a bit of a tiredl dirge. It picks up again with Pinders When you're a free man and finishes with I'm a Singer which is ok but not as good as the earlier Lodge rocker Ride my Seesaw on In the Search of the lost Chord.
