What are people's thoughts on jazz pianist Brad Mehldau's newest album, which lends a lot to prog? It includes some imaginative/pretty inspired arrangements of Rush's Tom Sawyer and Jacob's Ladder, Yes' Starship Trooper and GG's Cogs in Cogs. All in all, quite a refreshing and cool project that I wasn't at all expecting, but weirdly something doesn't totally sit right when on paper I should really love it.

There's another thread about this album from earlier this week.

EDIT - I was thinking about this one -  http://www.progarchives.com/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=128655" rel="nofollow - Progressive songs as 'jazz standards' - Progressive Rock Music Forum (progarchives.com)  - which is about other albums as well. I quite like Brad's album and will be giving it a few more listens.

I really dig this album! Don't like the Tom Sawyer version though, hard to top the original, although Mehldau's version has a very cool solo section.
