If you had to make a list for best ten records in 2005 thus far, what would you put on the list?

Just about any list that has Frances The Mute on top.

TMV are evolving so fast.

By the way... has anyone here noticed Floyd's influence on the album cover?...

Floyd's influence?  They're by the same artist...I believe his name's Storm T. (for lack of not knowing how to spell his/her last name).  Look into it if you're curious...I'm pretty sure it's the same person designing.

The Mars Volta - Frances the Mute
Dream Theater - Octavarium
Neal Morse - ? (I'm anticipating this as being really good)

Those are the only ones I really care about. I'd put Takk... there, but I don't have it yet (). Yet, I still feel the need to put Morse's album up there. Don't ask me why.

Wow, I'm so ashamed. I've just discovered Storm Thorgerson desgined both album covers for The Mars Volta, deloused and frances...

Anyway, that adds to my love for this amazing band.

Oh yes, I remember feeling the same way when I found out that Thorgeson did TMV's covers. Truly an amazing band, first off, and then to attract Storm into the mix... fantastic.

Blimey I need to get out more. Or at least down to HMV or Virgin more often. Only album I've bought this year that's FROM this year is TMV - Frances the Mute. At least I bought a good 'un!

This is always embarrassing, because I tend to spend more money on building my back catalogues than on new stuff, because I wait for the prices to drop...

having said that, I own:

  • Shadow Gallery: Room V 4.5/5
  • Porcupine Tree: Deadwing 4.5/5
  • Arena: Pepper's Ghost 4/5
  • DT: Octavarium 3.5/5
  • Spock's Beard: Octane 3/5

I am waiting for prices to come down on the new Pendragon, Pallas, Presto Ballet & VDGG among others...
