The only album I know well enough to list here is

Metropolis Part 2: Scenes From A Memory

which is a belter!

Having scanned down the best albums from the year on this website, there's quite a few I really should listen to or get to know better....

That's a lot tougher than 1998. It really hurts to leave out Primus, Mr. Bungle, Opeth, and Anekdoten, who, based on my mood, could be in the top 10 on another day. The Godspeed You Black Emperor 1999 EP is pretty great, and Ui have a nice one, too (I realise that Ui are now on PA but their albums are not listed).

Tarentel - From Bone to Satellite
Porcupine Tree - Stupid Dream
Kong - FreakControl
Salaryman - Karoshi
Asmus Tietchens & Vidna Obmana - Motives for Recycling
Sigur Ros - Ágćtis Byrjun
Cardiacs - Guns
David Sylvian - Dead Bees on a Cake
Labradford - E Luxo So
Camel - Rajaz

3. Opeth - Still Life
4. Mr Bungle - California
5. Camel - Rajaz

And a shout out to Gorky's Zygotic Mynci's Spanish Dance Troupe, even though it's not quite prog but I discovered recently and loved.
