well, I haven't given up, at least prog-related.
Coming up with albums from whatever genre is easy. Sticking with prog & prog related is a welcome challenge, with prog lists I may find out about albums I do not know. Smile

^ I couldn't make a prog top ten for this year filled with music love - or even like. But I do consider everything on my list as more genuinely progressive in "spirit" than Marillion was in 1991

More of a factual thing really. The  music on Marillion's 1991-outing is prog-related or maybe even "prog" - but not very progressive music.

Twelfth Night - Collector's Item

My original comment was more of a self-defense thing... as I've "complained" earlier that seemingly everyone else posted lists filled with new wave and post-punk troughout the 1980's - while I was trying to "keep it real". And entering the 1990's I've given up trying myself.

1990 was a tough year for prog, I could not come up with 10 albums, but 1991 was a much better year. Tongue

Talk Talk - Laughing Stock
Slint - Spiderland
Mr. Bungle - s/t

Bill Bruford's Earthworks - All Heaven Broke Loose

Manfred Mann's Plains Music - s/t
Legendary Pink Dots - The Maria Dimension

Prog only here, and I don't even list the Ozrics, Wyatt, Primus, Hammill, or Camel (not the biggest fan of Dust and Dreams but it's far better than We Can't Dance for sure)!

By the way, I have only ever listed stuff from PA plus Irmin Schmidt plus Mick Karn (who belong here for sure)... however I have to admit that three times or so in some of the earlier polls I listed an album I've only listened to for the first time for putting together the year's list.
