Random Album Clash - Champions of the 1990s is here! After some interesting voting last week, we got the first finalist: Big Big Train's 'English Electric Part One'. 'Fear of a Blank Planet' almost won as well but King Crimson (or rather, a user who voted for them) usurped Porcupine Tree's win.

Going back to this new poll - we have ten awesome albums, and I don't know who to vote for.
In the meantime, fellow forum users, vote and comment for your favorite album of the 10 featured in this poll!

If we were working with OK Computer for 1996 this would be much harder, but Anglagard takes this poll.

3) Ever
4) Brave
5) Hybris

After that, I couldn't care less.

Hybris for me. Good The Division Bell was not included, for I would have had a hard time choosing between the two (for very different reasons, since they are opposite albums in so many aspects).

I'll be the first to admit that Brave isn't a perfect album, there are some tunes on there that I wish were left off (namely the harder-rocker ones, and especially the last song Made Again), yet it's the one I'm fondest of. With a bit of editing, there's a masterpiece lurking in there.

Hybris is the cream here but some really decent Neo albums and of course that early Post Rock album out of Canada which is one of the best from that style of music.

Queen > GY!BE > King Crimson. Queen won today for nostalgic reasons.

I have to go with the flow on this one, just because 'Hybris' is an all-time favorite of mine! Is there really any competition here anymore? LOL

It's a bit of a stop start album, even the live version on the Made Again album. It doesn't flow like a Pink Floyd album. However it has a brilliant concept with great lyrics and the highs are as good as any on any other Marillion album.

Lardspeed Dew Black Janitor for me. I remember back when every new release of theirs was hyped and even youngins fell over themselves to get to the pork. Them and The Lars Volvo truly catered experimental music to the masses at the time - ultimately making PA pretty...err..interesting to frequent.
‘That is not prog! It does not sound like Genesis or King Crimson!’
‘We know and that is exactly why we like it!’
To those of us who loved both sides of the fence though..it was hilariously fun to watch from afar.

Kinda reminds me of PA today

Anglagard, but I believe Thrak is one of the best King Crimson records. Anglagard was just so balsy for when it came out

My favorite 90s prog record has gotta be My Arms Your Hearse from Opeth, but Rajaz always gets a nod in my book as well

I agree; I only rank Marbles higher. But that one too I consider to be 2 albums - a pop one that I don't really listen to all that much, and a separate prog one that I listen to quite often (consisting only of Invisible Man, Neverland, and Ocean Cloud - which is the length of a typical album).
