Just like the thread for 1969, this is all about your suggestions; The list of obscure album from 1969 contains more than forty records at this point, of which I knew just a few.
Let's see what your suggestions for 1970 will be - remember, anything you consider obscure counts, as long as it is an album that is not massively known, even if it was released by a well-known band.

Audience - Friend's Friend's Friend

Sweet Smoke - Just a Poke

I'd alsoplace Supertramp's debut, because it is generally completely ignored. oke

I like DrWu's list much better than mine, seeing as I was limited to choosing only three obscure favourites. Smile

He has a beautiful voice.  Can't understand a word but love the album.  Sad that he died so soon in life.

That is very true.

Can I add one more? Exuma's self-titled debut is mind-blowing

Psych Paul, this is because he is breaking the rules which say three albums per forum user. LOL
The joke aside, feel free to add more to your list as well!

Sticking with self titled.  Some more obscure Bands from UK.  1970 was a rich year in my collection.

Warhorse - s/t - Had original Deep Purple bass player Nicky Simper
Toe Fat - s/t - Had Ken Hensley, Lee Kerslake future Uriah Heep
Rumplestiltskin - s/t - Had Herbie Flowers bass player did stuff with David Bowie and Lou Reed.  (Did bass on Walk on Wild Side).
If - s/t
High Tide - s/t
Freedom - s/t - Had Procol Harum members Ray Royer and Bobby Harrison
McDonald & Giles: s/t - Original King Crimson members
Fotheringay: s/t - Maybe not so obscure as they were formed by Sandy Denny.

Nick

Edited: I see Gracious was already added so removed it.  Couple more self titled but not from UK:

Drosselbart: s/t
Chilliwack: s/t

I'm not sure what really qualifies as obscure since those which were obscure back then are now quite popular.

My picks just off the top of my head.

Marsupilami - self titled

East of Eden - Snafu

Orange Peel - Orange Peel

and i could go on!

The first that springs to mind is Blue Effekt & Jazz Q’s Coniunctio. Wonderful fusion album - especially if you dig the likes of Mwandishi, early Weather Report and Bitches Brew era Miles..though with a decisively more ‘European jazz rock touch’ to the proceedings
I’ll get back to you regarding some other titles.

I wouldn't say the Grechuta album is obscure.

Is it well known outside Poland? I would be very surprised if it was.

The first two albums with Awana are in the top 5000 albums of all time on Rate Your Music.

I just listened to them recently. Good eclectic stuff.

I'd say they are no longer just a Polish isolate.
