How would you normally " get into " a new album...i always listen to it on my computer while doing something else too see if anything that catch my ear. Then i go into listening it to headphones for atleast 2-3 mins at each song while concentrating on the lyrics and music.
Then i continue that process until i feel that i can express my opinion about if the music is good or not.

I'm listening mp3 first in comp, then buying or copying CD and listening on full loudness in a player (when my family is out ) while
I'm cleaning up my house or cooking

Normally my new CD's arrive in the post on a weekday. I play the whole album when I get in from work, while cooking dinner or something. Then I listen to it on my walkman going to work the next day. Sometimes I'll be hooked on the album for a week, listening to it every day, and sometimes it will get put on the 'back burner' for a few weeks before I revisit it.
I always want albums to knock me out straight away, but it's often the case that the best albums take time to sink in.

I really don't like headphones, that's why I don't use walkman

Music sounds better without them, I agree, but my journey to work is far more enjoyable for being able to listen to music.

Why? To me i prefer listening to music propely on headphones because there is alot of tiny details that i miss out when i listen to it on the speakers...And it also helps me to concentrate more on the music.

So that's one of differences between us- I can't concentrate on music in headphones and second reason is that in my opinion music is more alive when I'm hearing
also sounds of environment around. Headphones listening is too pure, sterile for me.

Indeed.
Though, I stopped using headphones, because I used to use it a lot and it is quite bad for the ears.
About your question, maidenrulez, I always put on albums while I mess with my computer, if the album catches my attention, I'm starting to hear it another couple of times and when I really want to enjoy (a really good album) I use headphones.
Unfortunately, I did not come across many albums that catched my attention and doesn't interest me so much to hear them without being occupied.. Van Dar Graaf Generator, Gentle Giant, some Yes albums, some KC albums, some IQs...
Either I'm too lazy to hear music without being occupied (which is quite a problem in prog, you have to listen the music with 3 ears, at least until you connect to the album), or prog doesn't suit me very much (besides some specific bands)...
Well, I'll see to where the wind will take me..
Btw, The Gates of Delirium pwns ass, the last couple of mins almost makes me cry..

With nearly 10,000 albums and more arriving at the rate of dozens
(sometimes hundreds) per month, I generally only get to hear an album
once, unless it makes a particular impression on me. (In fact, I own
several hundred albums I have never heard - although I'm sure I'll get
round to them some day.)
Depending on my mood, I may listen to an album while I'm working, or I
may give it my full attention. If it's the former, and the album is
sufficiently interesting that I stop working, I know it's a great LP. If the
latter, and I stop giving it my full attention and begin some work, I know
it's at best mediocre.
Very rarely do I have to hear an album twice to know what I think of it.

Some albums I get into while do something else, other more complex albums require me to focus solely on the music. For example I instantly like Tommy by The Who after hearing it while surfing the web, but when listening to Relayer I had to just sit there and listen for it to catch my attention.

Usually start with mp3s on my comp, if i like i buy the album and
listen to it while playing video games or cleaning. I take my discman
everywhere with me so lots of my best listening experiences have been
walking around with my diskman, or listening in school when i should be
paying attention.

I usually listen to it a couple of times, then i make an opinion. After that, i listen to some other albums in the same genre, and then, I listen to the album again.

I sit down and listen. I couldn't do it any other way. I think music should be LISTENED TO and not HEARD WHILE DOING SOMETHING ELSE. (imho)
...and headphones are a must

I usually do the same as all of you. Download the album, see if I like it, and then buy it, or not.
But I must say, there's no greater musical thrill than buying/burning an album, waiting for the night, and then listening to it for the first time while lying in bed in complete darkness... that's as good as it gets, for me.
It let's your imagination run wild.

I'll listen to it in my car first because I have a good sound system and I'm always looking for good production..plus I drive a lot. Then I'll listen to it through headphones as I fall asleep. I'll then end up listening to it while I'm on the computer or doing homework.
