Well, it seems to me that 1997 was not as good as 2006, in terms of a plethora of very good releases. From the few that I really like and appreciate from this list, I will cast my vote for The Flower Kings.
Which of these is your favorite, fellow forum users? Leave some suggestions, should you feel like it! Anything is encouraged really (Just not the multiple voting option LOL)!

Great year for prog. Could have been any one of a number of albums.

An interesting piece of RAC stats is that the 1974 poll from last week got the whopping 80 votes! The previous 'title-holder' in this category was 1975 with 74 votes! Thanks to everyone who participated, I really do not know what to expect from 1973 that is coming on next week.

I think 1973 is the most popular year of all for prog, so I wouldn't be at all surprised if Random Album Clash 1973 breaks all previous records for voting participation. Smile

Strange for me to vote for anything other than IQ especially as Subterranea was my favourite album for a while. However that Par Lindh album is a total masterpeice. Powerful and unique symph prog from a powerhouse of a line up at the time. (Magda Berg RIP)

Definitely not as good for me, either. The 2000s were definitely next level.

Between IQ, Marillion and the Ozrics I choose Radiohead - on of the best albums of the decade, imo.

I hesitated between IQ - 'Subterranea' and Fates Warning - 'A Pleasant Shade of Gray'. However, I decided by IQ - 'Subterranea'.

Surprised that IQ got that many....alwys thought that 2lp should have been a single with too many uninteresting tracks overall. And Radiohead..another 'overrated' band for me.
And KC should have gotten more...a killer live set .

IQ gets the nod.
(Still trying to get it out of my head that it tries too hard to be The Lamb . . )

Several good albums there, but just one masterpiece: Subterranea.
People compare it with The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway: Ok - its's a double concept album and that's it.
The concept is totally different and the mood is much darker.
For me, Subterranea is a far better album with not a single indifferent track. There's quite a few of those on the Lamb.
