I went with the Blue Effect epic, even tho I've only heard it maybe 3 times, its a good one.

...followed closely by maudlin of the Well  (the full title of which is: Another Excerpt, Keep Light Near You Even When Dying--title is cut off in the poll due to lack of space).

Beefheart next, then Linda's mega-hit, then Stevie's mega-hit.

Captain Beefheart. Pacheco Cadaver is an awesome song.

I just think that I may shuffle for ages, but that Stevie Wonder's rubbish would never appear in my list.

I stand with Roger Waters, I stand with Joan Baez, I stand with Victor Jara, I stand with Woody Guthrie. Music is revolution

Got her wheel out of a B-29 Bomber
Brody knob amber Spanish fringe 'n talcum tazzles forever amber
She looks like an old squaw Indian She ninety-nine, she won't go down
Avocado green 'n alfalfa yellow adorn her to the ground
Tattoos 'n tarnished utensils, a snow white bag full o' tunes
Drives a cartoon around
Drives a cartoon around
Broma-Seltzer blue umbrella keeps her up off the ground

Of course, the prog selections usually win--no surprise.

I'd love to post the same polls on a more general music site, just to see the contrast in results, but right now not sure where I would do that..

The 'Blue Effect' fusion piece is the best up there....a band I need to pull out again to play, ,,,,,though that Maudlin track is decent also...I don't own any. Stevie Wonder and Linda Ronstadt are...well, Wonder and Ronstadt...'nuff said.
Though I enjoy many later Beefheart things, especially Clear Spot, I could never warm up to Trout Mask,,,but the squid in the bag thing is funny.
