Our dreams come true!

It actually sounds more like an avant-garde 20th century classical composer like this.

Thanks for sharing. I've actually grown to love that first Shaggs album.

Wow, that's impressive!

I remember reading a story about their reunion in 2017 and recall that the drummer from the band that played behind them having difficulties trying to play the same exact parts Helen Wiggin did in the original.

I believe this is the performance from that reunion (My Pal Foot Foot starts at the 15:30 mark):

This one is possibly even better.

Looking at the time signatures reinforces the absolute genius of this group.

Meshuggah should totally do a cover.

Why aren't the Shaggs on PA? I think the time signatures alone make them worthy candidates.

At the very least they could be considered prog related or proto of some sort.

Anyone agree?

^I would be OK with their inclusion, but then again, I'm also for Scott Walker being here and I think he's been proposed multiple times in the past.

I believe Frank Zappa once considered Philosophy of the World his third favorite album.

As to who The Shaggs influenced, AllMusic (which you can take with a grain of salt) claims Deerhoof, John Zorn, and Frank Zappa have been.

I don't know if that's enough for prog related or not. Has the RIO/Avant-Prog team given any input on the Shaggs about the possibility in the past?
