I don't know what to choose, I like a few quite a bit like Gentle Giant, Moody Blues and Supertramp.

What about Atomic Rooster, Black Sabbath, I like how they sound. LOL

I know, there are so many; Maybe a second poll could be needed.

Yes.  They even put it to good use in Tempus Fugit.

I might have voted for Amon Duul II or Curved Air if they had been included.

My vote as well, and agreed!

VDGG would be next in line for me for sure.

I like a number of these and it's hard to nominate a best one. Surely I'm fine with calling a band Jethro Tull or using some other half-obscure historical personality. Soft Machine is pretty cool and Gentle Giant is a good choice, too. Van der Graaf Generator almost hits the top spot but calling your band Award-winning Marconi Bakery is just too charming to not vote for it.

more nice band names

Godspeed You!Black Emperor
Shadow Gallery
God Is an Astronaut
Soul Cages
Fragile Vastness
Animals As Leaders
Distorted Harmony

ignore this, it's just classic prog, I did not pay attention. EmbarrassedLOL

I'd vote for Atomic Rooster, but out of this poll, I like the name Procol Harum best of all. Smile

I have always been atracted by the name Gnidrolog, sounds exotic and archaic. From the list, Soft Macine, nice oxymoron.

You've given me an idea for a poll to find the best name for a Psychedelic Rock band. How about The Five Day Week Straw People, or The Orange Alabaster Mushroom for starters? Smile

May be easier to answer what they were not smoking.

It's difficult to separate the names from how I feel about their music. I think I'll have to use the method of elimination here. Remove one by one until there's the winner left.

I've always thought Pink Floyd was the best name - doesn't mean anything but sounds good.

Always liked Hatfield and the North as a band name given its a road sign London bands see heading north for gigs.

It’s hard to choose, since most of them are quite original and really good. I went with Jethro Tull, just a hair above King Crimson.

I like how Procol Harum sounds, although I don't have a clue what it means.

Not really thrilled with any of these options, but I'll go with HATN over KC.

Tough. Went for Jethro Tull, s it just seems to perfectly epitomise the band's persona (plus used to get a kick out of people thinking it was a solo artist)

Emerson, Lake and Palmer. It rolls off the tongue and sounds very pompous and self important , which of course summed them up!

I'll go with the 18th century English agricultural pioneer, and in second place the nickname for Beelzebub, prince of demons.

No, that would be Jethro Tull (Born 1674 - Died 1741), and King Crimson.

I voted for Kansas ... though I know they won't win I just love their music so much I'm forgiving of the fact they are named after a geographic location. Tongue
