It can be any song from any band and you have to state what you workout to.

I used to love working out to the song "Hold On" by Kansas and "Root of All Evil" by dream theater. Actually, Awake by Dream Theater is sort of my go-to workout album.

Hi,

A couple of girls I knew ... always said that led Zeppelin was always the best for "workouts" ... I'm not sure that many of the things suggested are considered "sexy" and fun. In fact many of them are just .... well ... never mind! Wink

Music is not just for listening ... it is for LIVING ... you got to feel it to know what's it about! Not being told!

I never listen to music when I work out because I don't mix pleasure with dumbbells (or treadmills for that matter).

One song that great for listening to on the elliptical is 'I Am a Camera' by Gentle Giant. In fact the whole album Civilian is good to listen to while exercising. Obviously 'Take a Chance On Me' by Abba is pretty much the ultimate treadmill song. 'Shot in The Dark' by Ozzy is great to workout to. The whole Crazy Nights album by Kiss is great to workout to. The Game by Queen is really good. Idk, I just reach for anything kind of energetic to get the old heart pumping. Oh Marquee Moon by Television I used to workout to a lot(fantastic album).

If I did such a thing then probably Eloy - The Flash would be a good candidate.  Eloy's music is quite 'muscular' especially the Planets and Time To Turn albums so might other good songs.

Running Up That Hill is usually mentioned in these type of threads.

No particular order

Neal and Jack and Me or Frame By Frame - King Crimson

It - Genesis

Long Distance Runaround The Fish (Schindleria Praematurus) - Yes

Most of One Of A Kind by Bruford is pretty good for sports

Run Like Hell - Pink Floyd, love it, it adds an element of danger One of these Days is really good too

I can imagine King Gizzards "nonagon infinity" must be a great album to work out to since most of it has a very "driving" rhythm. Probably good for running.

I don't listen to music when I work out.

I've danced frantically trying to match the beat of some jazz fusion songs though. That was...interesting.

I'm not sure I'd like to see anyone workout g-here, for I'd probably not be able to keep a straight , given your lists.
Unless headbanging can be considered "working out"

I like that one, though. LOL

================

ideally a workout list for me would include few prog tracks, but more like RnR or blues-rock (George Thorougood and stuff) and other genres like reggae, because dancing around like a fool (not the air guitar kind of crap) for a while is a workout.

If insisting on prog lists, I'd  look at these Avant-prog bands that have indulged heavily in Manouche or Klezmer music or even Cicus stuff (which is +/- similar), as they're pretty jumpy

Why just top 5. Anything by Ozric Tentacle. For a stoner band they sure have made some energetic music.

I haven't worked out a Top 5 but this classic song from the Rocky movie would be my #1 choice. Smile
