Hi,

I have created a spotify playlist for unsigned progressive rock bands. If you are searching for new music, you should check it out:  https://open.spotify.com/playlist/0KUGJ27lAQ1PhvHEIs83ys?si=1uz6AmAGRR2ABEG0sPIqYg" rel="nofollow - https://open.spotify.com/playlist/0KUGJ27lAQ1PhvHEIs83ys?si=1uz6AmAGRR2ABEG0sPIqYg

There is already a nice set of progressive rock music from all around the world and I am searching all the time more great music to add there. So if you know some good unsigned progressive rock bands, I would be happy to get recommendations. It is ok to recommend your own band too. So far the playlist has just a little below 100 followers but that's already a decent boost for a completely unknown band, don't you think?

Now you can also send me submissions through the https://soundplate.com/underground-progressive-rock-spotify-playlist-submit-music-here/" rel="nofollow - soundplate.com website.
It's easy and fast. Of course I also follow the forum and look for music there.

Currently there are over 10 hours of music from over 60 different bands and over 20 countries. If you think there's great music on the playlist, don't forget to like it. Press the heart icon and you can follow what's new in the playlist. You would also make me happy and at the same time you would support these great bands/ artists from the underground.

Thank you in advance!

This is fantastic, ProgPave. Its always inspiring to listen new, unknown, and yet excelent music. I found your post while looking for places to advertise my new album, if possible I would deeply appreciate your thoughts and sincere comments. I´m sending the prerelease link just in case you find thetime to check it out. In any case, thanks a lot for the playlist, I will follow your updates.

...

Hi,

It's a great list, and I will definitely look into many of those, however, this is not the only thing I listen to and separating "progressive" from any other music, shows (TO ME) how short sighted the list really is, nowadays, when a "record contract" is a thing of the past, and even more so now that a band can not hit the road to show the meager public showings, how good they are, so the word of mouth helps double the attention.

These days, any band waiting for a signature, is probably never going to get anywhere ... they need to make music for themselves and their ideas FIRST and then see if the rest follows or not.

Many years ago, some bands had to go through the Red Lion circuit and other bar circuits and eventually show that they can play, and might get signed for 3 chocolate bars and a beer ... and these days, if you offer a band that, you know damn well that you, or I, are going to tell that jerk to stick it where his sun don't shine!

There has always been an issue with bands not being "signed" or just too new to get any attention ... but I can go back to Space Pirate Radio 46+ years, and show you that not all bands got signed, even though an album was made ... cheapness at its best (I produced Guy's album and 1000 copies cost $1.73 each at the time with the cardboard cover, graphics and cellophane wrap -- 1977 or 1978 ... can't even remember it!) ... and today, you can copy a CD yourself, although you really should invest in a more complete and heavy duty CD-Rom Writer, so you can sell those things ... all you need now is resolve the cover, or paper inserts for it and a label to make it prettier, and that cost, is very low, other than the top level CD-Rom writer.

It's just strange to see a thread dictating yesterday's thing to today ... there will never be a band being offered $100K for their services and such ... I don't think that band folks are not smart enough to go ... wait a minute ... Budweiser will give us $5K for every show that we have their two huge flags on stage ... and you will take that in a second ... screw the record company ... all you need is a person that has an instinct for how to find folks to invest in the group ...

The other solution is to do what Porcupine Tree did ... selling cassettes up the yen yang for a band that did not exist ... and next thing you know you got 15 guys in hats and suits and brief cases at your door, wanting you to put your diddle here. SW DID NOT SIGN with anyone ... he only allowed the DELIVERY of the material and the band's output to get distributed ... he owns all the rest right from the start.

Dream Theater, just about did the same thing ... but today, you are specifying and telling me that these bands want a free ride? AIN'T GONNA HAPPEN SPECIALLY IN THE COVID ERA!

But the listing is great to find new listens that we didn't know about before!

Hi,

Thank you all for your messages and sorry for my late reply.

@artelug Thank you for your support. I'll definitely check your album, but I couldn't find the link so could you send it again?

@moshkito Thank you for your thoughts. I don't necessarily encourage bands to try to get signed. I just try to do my part to help bands to get more audience. Thank you anyway if you liked my playlist.

@Clivey Thank you for your recommendations. I especially liked the first song. It would fit to my playlist so tell me if you start to
do spotify at some point. Second one wasn't bad either.
I would describe it as "suitably strange".

@Drusstheledg3 Thank you for your recommendation! Great song, I added it to my playlist.

That's great ProgPave . Thank you . Use Spotify a great deal , mainly for Prog Classics, 1970's 'hairy' rock, and Folk, but always on the look out for new bands. Will try this playlist later.

Just checking played Den Der Hale 'Charlatan's Gospel' and Diamir 'Atrophy'   really promising, thank you for sharing. Added both tracks to my own Spotify playlist.

Realised that the whole 'Underground Progressive Rock' list on Spotify takes 8 hours and 2 minutes to play .
Certainly struck by how much good quality music there is on the playlist. Have now played it all the way through and made my own one hour playlist of my favourite tracks.
But certainly left feeling very positive about the current state of Prog .
Hope more people will check it out.

Hi,

Sorry, I have been pretty inactive with this playlist lately, but thank you for the support.
Also thank you for all the new suggestions. I already added few of them and maybe I'll come back later to check some more bands and songs from this thread.

Hi,

Of course I have to support my neighbors so I added song called "Lyssna till din röst" to my playlist. I like your music. It is refreshing to hear artists using their native language.  Tell me when you are going to release some more music.

Hi!

Anything that helps unsigned artists to find a bigger audience is a great idea. I just released my third album and as an unsigned artist would be delighted if you could any track of the album (or more) to your playlist.

Congratulations on releasing your third album, that's awesome! As an unsigned artist, getting your music out there can be a journey. Sharing your Spotify link is a great way to invite listeners into your world—I'll definitely check it out.

By the way, for artists looking to expand their audience on Spotify, there are https://songlifty.com/spotify-promotion/" rel="nofollow - genuine ways to organically increase plays . Services exist that assist in boosting plays without resorting to spammy tactics. It's important for musicians to explore these methods to gain more exposure and connect with a wider audience.

Hi!

Thank you so much!!

The third album is a while ago. In the mean time I have written and recorded my fourth album. This time with a host of collaborators: 8 from Ukraine and one from the Netherlands. For the new album the emphasis is more on vocals than on the previous albums. There are ten tracks of which 6 have vocals and one has spoken word. It is titled Solidarity and will be released on March one on Bandcamp and other streaming platforms. CD's will be for sale via Bandcamp and the Long Tall J website.

It was mastered by Steve Kitch Mastering in Exeter who also does Pineapple Thief and did the latest Jethro Tull.

I am hoping one day to be listed here in the archives of the website. If you like to follow me use the following link:

On DEC 8 IQ plays in the Islington O2. I might see you there!

Hey, I'm from Space Kitchen, a new old school prog rock band from Canada. We're unsigned and putting stuff out ourselves. Some songs I think might fit into your playlist are Believer Deceiver, Sun Tower, the Squig, or The Moving Picture

Thanks for making this playlist and helping out smaller prog bands! I can't wait to listen to it and check out some bands and do some networking
