Is here anybody interested in discussing the existing live tapes of VdGG in the 70s?

I actually always enjoy it listening to them, despite their mostly poor audio quality. They give at least a good overview of what they played on the stage then, and how different they sounded live compared to the studio albums, the incredible energy of the performances is pretty tangible.

My 3 favourites are Bern 23.5.1971, London 14.10.75 and Amsterdam 5.3.77.

I think that this tape from 14.10.75 sounds better than the bootleg versions they put on The Box and on the remastered albums of Godbluff and Still Life. And the manic performances are also superior, especially to the comparatively lame tracks taken from the Rimini show.

I love that version of A Plague Of Lighthouse Keepers that they played for TV in Belgium

So don’t evade the surgeon’s blade
Cos the answer could be in your mind
Maybe one cut and we’ll find
We’re just a wavelength behind

But we are entwined

And I know what you need
