This is the eighth of a 10-part alphabetical poll to determine who's the greatest guitarist of all time across all genres of music. When the results have all come in, I'll put the top two leaders of each of the ten polls into a face-off poll to determine the overall winner of the Top 100 guitar heroes.  I'll also enable multiple voting in the final face-off poll.
I doubt if Bonnie Raitt is going to get many votes on a Prog-Rock website. Smile

The Top 100 Guitar Heroes list is supplied courtesy of Guitarist Magazine.

Don't forget to vote for Frank Zappa when he DOES eventually appear in the tenth poll. Smile

Close Between Satriani & Patrucci. Went with Patrucci. (For he shreds like no other human!)

Petrucci here, although Santana deserves plenty of love as well.

Missing is Joe Pass and one who should have been a major guitar hero to many, the most astounding and tasteful Emily Remler.  And as long as we're giving recognition to the ladies, I'd put Ana Popovic above at least half this list.

I Think you should leave Zappa off the last one at this point just to mess with Barbu! LOLLOL

Hard to believe that Guitarist Magazine would not include Prince Rogers Nelson on its list of 100 Greatest Guitar Heroes--especially since so many others exclaim him to have been the world's greatest/best guitarist. (Including me.)

And why is this list so Anglo-centric? Are there no guitar heroes from Africa, Asia, Oceania, South America, or Antarctica?

Gotta go with Satriani, very creative and expressive player. Some people write him off as a soulless shredder, but I think he uses speed tastefully and knows when to restrain himself.

Not only is Raitt a mediocre axe wielder, she looks like a weathered old hag, and always has.
