The band name Daal, what does it derive from. ive tried to googles it found nothing.

Ive tried to see if there is any Hindu relations as it sounds similar to the vegetarian dish dhal. Yet it sounds wierd to name a band after a vegetarian dish.

have the band come up with any explanation for the name. Is it Hindu, is it Farsi, is it self-coined, or...

Probably just an alternate spelling of the dish:
Dal (also spelled daal, dail, dhal, dahl; pronunciation: [d̪aːl]) is a term used in the Indian subcontinent for dried, split pulses (legumes).

Daal might derive from the first names of the band members, Davide Guidoni and Alfio Costa (the first two letters of each first name).  That works for this duet, and would make sense to me.

Where my wife comes from, combining parts of the parent's names in this way is common for naming ones children and DAAL is their child.

i like both answers the hindu wishfull thinking and the Gnidrolog related combo of names, compound word version.

i like thst you can pretend it to bee from a deep hindu/linguistic conection into indo-european lingual etymology

but also is intrigues by the lexicological way of making words from the basis of two letters from last or given names.

I think i inquired about this way back for a review and it was the first two initials of each first name. Sort of like ABBA but a different take on it Wink

Good thinking, probably so.
