Zappa's cool but VDGG...

Wow. Tough call. I'm going to go with VDGG just because I know them better. I have just recently been gaining a real appreciation for Zappa. Some things are mind blowing but some of his "wackier" stuff just turns me off.

Easy one. I actually listen to Zappa.

I love me some VDGG, but I have to go with Zappa on this one.

Like VdGG, but not even close for me. Zappa easily...

Genius beats respectable. Zappa is genius.

I messed around with a Van der Graaf Generator once and got zappad. That is how I aquired wisdom.

Pleasantly surprised at the score right now, as I thought VDGG would be out in front.

Voted Zappa.

Zappa's best stuff is great but I just have more emotional connection to VDGG's music overall.

No, I know how to behave in the restaurant now, I don't tear at the meat with my hands. If I've become a man of the world somehow, that's not necessarily to say I'm a worldly man.

I'm more familiar with VDGG so they get the vote. Love Zappa's music too though.

No knock on VDGG, but Zappa by millions of miles. Zappa is like three bands in one and is so interesting down the little details of his work. VDGG is on the second-tier of the Classic Prog Greats in my mind, along with bands like Camel.

Zappa, of course.

This is unfair Unhappy.

I love VDGG but Zappa is one of the great musical minds of the 20th century...

Zappa had some really disappointing albums, like for example the "Sheik Yerbouti" trilogy. so it's VdGG for me; they never disappointed

Zappa is so unique and original, and musical. Of course, both artists are very unique, and these polls I think often are unfair in grouping music that is quite unlike in the same poll. I like both artists. But even though Zappa has some (more than some?) disappointing albums, the weight of his good stuff is massive

It's Zappa for me but I want to see how they matched up. Both are, how shall I say, Unique?

Absolutely. VdGG are special but Frank Zappa is Frank Zappa, gets my vote here.
